Definitely too soon to say about next term. They may not like us this term, we may not be available, or we may just run out of information to impart. Right now we're focused on this term only.

When is the deadline for the sign up of THIS term Dorkman?
I may be able to join for this term (since I really want to see yours and Ryan's course) if the deadline is after the end of this week!

If recollection serves, you can sign up any time throughout the term should you wish. You'll always have access to back-dated content that you paid for (as i still do for modules 2 terms ago). I believe the official start of this term is the 14th.

I've wanted to sign up there for a long time. Wish I had the money.

fxphd might be some of the best courses on the internet. If you have the money I would look into them.

It's pretty cool to see that you guys are going to be teaching a course over on FXPHD. I've always considered signing up for a semester over there but DRK301 has me really amped now. Although I'm broke right now I do plan to take it in the future. I have one a question. If I don't sign up now but later on, will DRK301 still be available on FXPHD?

They've recently announced that they intend to have us repeat the DRK301 course in the January term. Still, DRK301 or not, I highly recommend fxphd as a training resource if you can afford it. Great courses.

It's that time again. The Oct '08 term starting over at FXPHD.
Ryan and I had a great experience teaching the course last term, and though we won't be teaching this term there is a phenomenal line-up of classes. Two of the highlights that I would recommend to those who are serious about FX:
VFX101: A course with Ron Brinkmann, author of The Art and Science of Digital Compositing, which is just about as close as you can get to a Bible on the whys and wherefores of compositing. If you have any questions about the basics of VFX, this book (and this course) will answer them.
BKD210: Every subscription to FXPHD comes packaged with the Background Fundamentals course, and this term BKD alone looks to be worth the price of admission. They spoke to about a dozen of the biggest VFX supervisors in the industry -- and, if I may be so bold, in the history of cinema. We're talking Dennis Muren, John Knoll, Ken Ralston, John Dykstra, Jeff Okun, and more -- all sitting down to have something of a "round table discussion" on the real ins and outs of visual effects and modern filmmaking.
I don't get paid to promote it, and my courses for this term are already covered so no sense putting in my username as a referral (though there are a couple users here who could maybe use a free course...speak up if you want it!).
If you've got the chance to jump in, this is a great term to start.
And for the record, the plan at this time is still for Ryan and I to repeat our course come the January term.
EDIT: Here's the O-Week video introducing some of the more interesting courses of the term.
