I suggest the opening crawl be converted to a railroad instead. Like, instead of letters on a starry background, have the text appear on the rail tracks as it dissapears in the desert background.. That'd be awesome

The last thing a railroad would want to do is make enemeies in a town. A railroad company depended on towns for passengers who pay to ride the train, wood and water for the engine to power the train and food for the railroad workers and passengers.
I'm not understanding your treatment.
The next town would hear the news of other towns being ransacked or destroyed and have a vigilante force waiting for the railroad when they arrived.
Or, they could simply remove the tracks to derail the train.
When you make your movie, the audience will ask "Why didn't the townsfolk just derail the train?"
