Giant Gnome Digital is proud to announce it's new film "Best Left Forgotten". The film has finally made it through it's possibility stage and is now in the preproduction stage. "Best Left Forgotten" is a roughly ten minute long, action-packed tale about two former Jedi Knights who have left the Jedi Order in pursuit of the mighty Sith Lord, Darth Dictatus, and his apprentice, Darth Requius.

I cut my finger. That's tragedy. A man walks into an open sewer and dies. That's comedy.

I don't really know the 'joke' about this but yes, it will be filmed in a forest. However it's an excellent location. I'll have some images up later I suppose if you all would like to see.

The joke is that every fanfilm ever is basically two Jedi or a Jedi and a Sith or two Sith dueling in the woods.

Is that a bad thing? Does that automatically make the story a complete failure? I think not. I'm not looking for the element to look 'cool' because I'm some sort of lightsaber swinging Jedi or Sith. I'm looking to tell a story. A story people are going to like and a story people are going to remember. Sorry for the rant. I just dislike the fact that because it's in a forest it's going to be judged like that. Anyways, I'm off into the forest right now to take some pictures of the location, I think you guys will appreciate it.

Then you should be fine. Location is not as important as a good story. If a forest is where your story is located, then have at it and make it good. The comments are not "judging", it just a running joke around here because of the number of films using that type of location. But you are right, that does not in any way make it a bad location.

Whats more important is that you actually finish the film. Do what it takes, stay motivated, and see it through. I'm glad to see a target length of 10 minutes, as that is manageable. Most new film announcements don't end up in a finished product, so beat the odds and finish your film.

Thank you for those kind words good sir. I must apologize as well, since I'm new around here I don't know these "jokes". Anyways, here are some photos from to do of our location. Take notice it wasn't the most fantastic Ohio day but never the less we plan on filming during the summer. Trust me, it'll be a beautiful summer day. By the way, that's my backyard.

Broadview Heights, Ohio. I'm pretty far away from your location.

Well as of right now, the above pictures are more then likely to be our location for when we shoot. However, I have been exploring my property a bit more and I have found another excellent location. I'll have some more lovely pictures up tomorrow of the new location.

Dont listen to the people who slag off filming in Forests... you'll find that most who do haven't actually bothered to try and make a fan film. I've made lots of films in forests, only because it was the right setting for the story. Seeing how good chunks of the Star Wars movies are set in forests i dont get the treatment either. I do get that alot of people use them, but not all of us live near Deserts, or Movie sets. :-)

I'm turning in my first Star Wars fan film at the minute, and i came here looking for help and encouragement. I got lots of help via tutorials and the occasional answer to my thread but the general feeling i get is not a nice one. People tend to be very critical, (not that i'm slating criticism) in a sort of Elitist sort of way.

I'm going to give my stay here a bit of a try... so come on people, rather than slate those trying to make their fan films (even if it is set in a forest and is about 2 people fighting each other with lightsabers), feed us with the info and the encouragement we need to make sure we turn in a good film, worthy of your precious minutes of life. :-)

Maybe i should have finished reading the thread before going off on one! LOL... i like your attitude DaFireMedic! :-)

I'm guessing by your comments that alot of people start to make films and then they drop off...? That's a shame if that's the truth.
I hope people pop over to my thread on my new film 'Overtime' and give me feedback too. :-) I'm currently in production, about half way through now... and its on schedule! :-) Hoping to complete by the end of May.

Here is our second location where we might possibly shoot the film. The last two images are my house/property during the summer just so you can get an assumption of how the locations are going to look once it's filmed during the summer.
