I'm finally getting to the point where I could realistically get a new camcorder.
I'll be going with the HV30... and now I'm just wondering what other "can't-do-without" accessories I should get with it.
(Yes, I know to get more batteries)
I'm thinking of at least getting a shotgun mic (I was looking online at the Sennheiser MKE 400 Compact Video Camera Shotgun Microphone)

How important are additional lenses/filters to the average hobbyist?
From everything I've researched, getting mini-DV tapes specially-designed for HD cameras are a waste of money - standard mini-DV tapes work fine.
Your thoughts?

Polarizer filters are good for shooting outdoors on non-cloudy days. They allow you to get a nice blue sky, and have the things on the ground light enough to see.

I recommend a tripod and some kind of stabilization rig (i.e., pseudo steady cam).

You can build the steadycam yourself, though.
