The Sony HVR-HD1000U. No place online has full res stills or video. If the quality is decent, this camera could be a great deal. No place I can find lets you rent it, either. It's somewhat of a pain.

I've been looking up camera specifications and trying to find information.
It doesn't seem to have a progressive recording mode, which I would now consider required for narrative and visual effects work. The target market for this particular camera is event videography such as weddings and sports. If it is 60i only, I don't think it's a worthwhile purchase. This isn't to say that it won't produce good 60i imagery, and acceptable 1080p30 imagery. However, 1080p24 is out, and you'd have to deinterlace, which decreases resolution.

I agree, However framerates are not much of a concern for me. In fact, a lot of the stuff I make ends up airing on a public access channel here, so it has to be a certian spec.
Covert-Sniper,
I don't care if it has the most godly image quality ever, the hv30 is tiny. People don't give you the right kind of respect you should get with a small camera. Generally, this spplys to a lot of differnet things in life, too...

It's all how you use it.
You have to go out and kick some ass to get respect.
I had to do so with Sony FX-7 and Panasonic Hvx-200 VS. my Hv20.
I came out on top.

I'm not saying it has to be shoulder-held...but not a little handycam, is what I meant to say.
