Great idea on the blurring (why didn't i think of that?!)... i may just do this for my competition entry. Crazy that i have to have two versions of the film! LOL...

Has anyone here ever been ACCEPTED by the atomfilms.com contest? What is the post-approval process like? Did they call you or send an e-mail or what? How long did it take from approval until your film was on the website?

I can't remember when they gave me the email saying I was accepted back in 2004...maybe a month after I sent it in, maybe less.

Last year when I sent Cinemagic in, I didn't get a rejection letter until the day the movies went online at Atomfilms. It will be a generic letter sent out to everyone.

Not sure when they will review the final entries for this years contest. Maybe the week after the May 27th deadline. If you don't hear from them at that point, assume your film hasn't been selected.

With 'Dude' they sent out an email a few weeks after I posted it, and then said we had five days to get the release forms back to them. That was fun.

Just sent our entry today. Uploaded it & sent in the post. Now all you can do is wait. There doesn't seem to be any set time limit to a response from them. If you haven't heard by the time the comp goes live you probably didn't get in. But if you're optimistic you'll be thinking it's been misplaced, waiting to be discovered in time for next years comp.

No, you don't have to. You can mail them an entry form with a URL on it or upload it or mail a DVD. Any one of those will suffice.

Thanks for that... i've decided on the Upload way... and its been uploading for about 45mins now... i think i'll leave it to run over night! Fingers crossed it gets across ok!

My film is 9mins 10 seconds (roughly 92mb). And i had to leave it to run over night! Its there now... so the long wait can now begin!

Do they require you to provide them with signed talent releases for every actor in the cast?

Yes. Also any recognizable locations. Also some evidence that you have the rights to all music used. Also evidence that you've filed copyright papers for the project, plus a few other odds and ends of paperwork.

At least in prior years the paperwork has always included all the above, unless they've simplified things this year.

They rejected my first entry (different film) 4 months ago and that was about 3 weeks after I sent it.

The audio and cinematography are crap, but it's getting decent reviews.


That script was actually really well written. You were right about the audio and cinematography though, it could use a little sprucing up. Still, really funny!

I don't think I'm gonna enter "Dear 2-1B" again this year. Two rejections are enough for me to know it's crap.
