Bear in mind this is a rough initial edit, made from ripping a DVD of a composite capture off my HD camera. Basically, the quality of the video and audio is nowhere close to where it'll be for the final cut.
I put this together for SilentBat's screening of Whoopi vs. SilentBat II yesterday, so I thought I'd share it here as well.
There's a short 'TV Spot' attached to the end to give a little taste of the style I'm going for.
I hope you like it!

I liked. Kind of tough on the audio though. And I kept going "Defence" is spelt wrong.

Great to finally see some FKaD stuff. Are you going to work on that audio? Some noise removal and fading between cuts would help out. It's a little distracting as it is, but the editing flows nicely enough. I'm intrigued by the foreshadowing in the dialogue there.

The little girl's pretty good with that saber. Better than my own female lead. :/
It's nice to see 2.35 in a film on this production level, and you make it work.
There's a bit around the 2-minute mark that's essentially spent explaining the plot of ROTS. Without actually sitting down and looking at each individual line, I wonder if there's a way you can condense the conversation. Your target audience will know the plot, you can proceed to the analysis sooner than you might if you were discussing something that no one was familiar with.

Haw! I wrote my comments as I was watching the project and didn't go back and edit.
Reviewing the scene, I confess I stand by my analysis. Sorry, little bespectacled guy, but you have soft features. You could pass for a girl, probably one named Amanda.

Apparently that "little girl" is a "little boy". So Vapes tells me.

Quite nice on the cinematography there. What set-up are you using to record the audio? What HD camera was this shot with?

That's actually my fave film professor's 7-year-old son, she loaned him out to us for the day.
Don't worry, we all thought he was a girl too. Luckily, we found out the truth before I asked "What's her name?"

I own an Audio-Technica 835b mic, which puts out some fairly nice audio. The main problem w/ this is that my Sony HDR-HC3 doesn't have a mic jack, so the bit of buzz you hear is prolly caused by the hacked shoe mic I had to use in order have the mic plugged in.
I still haven't found a good way in Audition to get rid of the excess buzz without getting some kind of digital static in its place. I'm working on it.
I did win the official Sony mic shoe on eBay recently, so I'm hoping that the buzz won't be present when I start using that.

Not too shabby. Cool to see some more of this stuff pop up.
Overall not bad, I think there are some good moments but the pacing could use a bit of tightening. Snipping a little bit of the dead time there between lines would help a lot and probably get that scene cut down about 10 seconds or so. Right now it's not too long but it just feels kinda long. It's pretty slow.
I'm sure any other technical issues can simply be chalked up to "it's a rough edit and will be addressed later" which is totally cool. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I'm going to second that - you don't want your film, which seems to have potential, to end up feeling like Napoleon Dynamite.

Do you have a raw image rendered from After Effects of the video quality when editing? Trying to figure out the quality of different cameras before I invest in an HD one. Thanks Vapes.

Well, I don't have anything from FKaD right now. Broken Firewire and all that, I had a local video house put some tapes on DVDs for me, and ripped it off of there. It's a quick, cheap solution to do the edits on any questionable dailies.
I do have a couple pics laying around, here's a pretty decent one of my wonderful leading lady, Nora Burnett:
I'd lean towards getting the newer model, though. Word on the street is it actually comes with a mic port, which will save you a lot of trouble.
The HDR-HC#'s are probably best for someone in my situation, who have done a little work in school and on their own, and want to take the next step up quality-wise. It's good for getting your hands dirty, and is actually cheaper than a GL-2 or other higher end standard-def cameras, and while the features are minimal, if you know what you're doing you can get some pretty nice images out of it.
You guys haven't even seen the good stuff yet. Oh man.

Awesome man, very nice quality! I'm leaning towards something like that, or either the Canon HV30. Still trying to decide which, but I'll probably definately be getting one for when I'm filming projects.
Can't wait to see the good stuff, lol.

Agreed... it's something that I know you're working on, at least in action scenes like the one we went over in February, but while dialogue doesn't have to be fast paced editing, it does need to have a bit more jump to it. Listen to people talk to each other - go to a mall and sit on a bench or something. Even without being rude, people will start their sentence as the previous person is finishing.
Timing to play around with. Otherwise, cool to see it
Edit: Oh, and knowing what the movie's about, I disagree with the comment, "Take out the Episode III synopsis."
