Kessno posted: Do you have a raw image rendered from After Effects of the video quality when editing? Trying to figure out the quality of different cameras before I invest in an HD one. Thanks Vapes.
I've got some HD stuff on my site, and also over at Vimeo, both shot with the HC3, and down-converted to 720p.

Hee hee... interesting change of that scene from the draft I read. Good foreshadowing there too.

I haven't read a draft since mid summer last year. So I don't remember the details... I definitely recognize the scene though.
Yay for the half second Laz cameo :P

In the draft I read that scene was just with a different girl, the same character played by Jessie. It's much cuter now that it's been switched with Skylar (Nora's character) since it gives a bit more background between the two leads. Also, bonus, any of Nora's flubs can be attributed to being tongue-tied over meeting Conner.
I actually like the fact I haven’t read later drafts, and that Vapes is just makin' stuff up as he goes too; little surprises like this make the process interesting.

Spelt - A past tense and a past participle of spell.
So, when is FKaD going to be released?

Hey now, who says that's not what we were going for?

Ugh.
You have no idea. I just had a major scene adjustment hit me at work two nights ago, for cryin'-out-freakin'-loud. Luckily, it only affects things that happened in that scene, unlike a certain 'replacing a male character with an actress on a whim' incident.
I have these phases where I simply can't turn it off. I wish I had a list of all the ideas I've had to reject because they'd take too long or I can't actually do w/ my current skills and resources.
I could prolly make a second one based with all of that material, but meh. I'm not really into sequels for sequel's sake. This is prolly my only 'saber fanfilm (not counting LCCs, but that's different).
I wouldn't be making the changes if they weren't for the better though, so w00t.
And for the record, it was your idea to put this scene at the front of the movie. Good idea, yes, but I'm just sayin'. There's a reason that the version of the script I've been using off my computer is called "FKaD: The Laz Cut".

I need a cute picture of someone innocently shrugging. When I know, you'll know, and that's all I know for now.

You've no idea how many little unused bits and elements collect in my brain and end up creating a new story.
I mean heck, a solid part of UCF was inspired by a half-failed attempted to work out a sequel to PwNN (as a JKII game mod). There's even a straight scene lifted from 'PwNN 3' in Abstract Messiah, the one in the elevator.

Maybe, just for giggles, I'll make a spin-off from FKaD, which is a spin-off from TKaJ. But what should I call it, so as to have a cool acronym of my own?

Spelled: Past tense, to signify. This delay spelled disaster for us.
We can play this all day :P

We can play the double meaning game any time. I want to know more about the story behind FKaD.
I mean, all I really know is what I've gleaned from several unnamed sources. That it's set in the same world as To Know a Jedi (one of the better fan films out there and easily pg-13). AND that are the title is an awesome Yoda quote. But I really don't know who the characters are, what the plot really is or what.

On a semi-related note, does anyone here know where I can download To Know A Jedi? I did get a copy of the file from Fan-Files.com, but it cuts out about halfway through the movie. Am I doing something wrong, or is the problem with the file?

Penitio posted: I want to know more about the story behind FKaD.
Doing a synopsis, especially of my own work, has never been my strong points when it comes to writing. I always want to go into too much detail... but I'll give it a shot.
To Know a Jedi carries a very simple premise. "What if?"
What if someone, in this case a Star Wars geek/physics grad named Will Green, discovered something no one believed was possible? How might this happen, how would it change him, and how would it affect those around him?
For Knowledge and Defense asks an equally simple question. "What's next?"
Connor Larson was your average Star Wars fan. He enjoys the movies, but his fascination goes beyond, as he always enjoyed the books of the Expanded Universe more. He never asked to find the Force. The Force found him, through a woman named Aniqua, who possesses the only remaining guide to bringing these elements of Star Wars to life: Will Green's journal.
With this detailed volume, Aniqua teaches herself to build lightsabers and wield the Force, but she can't keep it to herself. She brings on two people who she feels would be helpful to her cause, Connor and his friend Michael Hinge. Hesitantly, they agree, and together the three of them train to better understand Will Green's success and failures. But what are Aniqua's intentions for them?
Along the way, Connor meets Skylar Young, a young woman who can never get her life to go in the direction she wants it to. She becomes a friend to him, and his grounding to a more traditional reality. As they grow closer, Connor begins questioning what is truly important to him in his life, and as he learns what happened to the man who wrote the journal, he wonders if he should leave Aniqua and Michael behind.
The question he doesn't ask is how they would feel about it.
I think that touches on it, a little bit. That's good for now.

I haven't check that one in a while. I still have the torrent file someone put up on my computer, but I don't know if anyone's seeding.
I can open it up in my torrent program, if anyone wants to try it that way.
It would be nice if people who want to see FKaD watch TKaJ first. This isn't a concern for a while, obviously, but it'd probably be a little helpful when it comes time to watch my film.
