Let us assume you are a Jedi Knight in the New Jedi Order, with a wife and and a great reputation in the order. But some how you eventually fall to the Darkside... how would this happen?
The reason I ask is because I am writing a fan film for a school project, but I want to come up with an really tragic and original way for a human being to fall. I haven`t topped ROTS by that much. I need ideas. Something that would make you cry.

I had thought of this, but I ruled out the idea because it would conflict with another idea. However it is still in the list of candidates, it would just change things a bit.

I'd have him get tricked into it. If he's got a reputation, have the enemy make it look like he's done something horrible. He would loose not only the respect of his peers and maybe his wife, but he's also possibly be kicked out of the Order entirely. From there it probably wouldn't take much for the enemy to convince the character to see the Jedi as the problem and start him thinking that they're totally wrong about everything, including the dark side. If the Jedi did figure out that the main character was innocent, their inability to see it from the start would only help his case against them and their methods.

Despair. Having to choose between my 'job' and my family. So, maybe he has to choose to save the ship full of refugees, even though he knows that means his family gets sacrificed. That kind of thing.

Well, a person could turn to the darkside just because he/she just realized that they now have telekinesis and force persuasion. After all, power corrupts.

Power with out control or limits corrupts. Our character is a very powerful jedi as is, but something changes him. The idea of sacrificing his family is interesting. I like all these ideas. I feel that mixing a little bit of each would make a nice formula. Oh, and the Darkside also has better health insurance.

Fear of losing control.
He fears his wife is interested in someone else. His fears are completely unfounded, his wife truly loves him but he cannot see it. His fear and jealousy of something that does not even exist leads to his downfall and the destruction of his marriage.

Aye! Indeed, this is a very humanistic story, and was the first idea I had started writing, inspired from my own mistakes that nearly cost losing my girlfriend and various friends. I was on the edge of "the darkside", feelings of hatred and revenge going through me. It sometimes scares me that I can feel such things. I will explore this part of the character deeply.

Pride, in believing that proper Jedi are incapable of falling to the Dark Side and that any hint of the Dark, translated as any Force users refusing to submit to Jedi training, should be extinguished.
It would have been the core plot of The Jedi With No Name but feel free to use it.

Keep in mind when writing, that it's the man's perceived self-worth (which is often very low) and that insecurity that fail him. She wants him to be happy, but he relies on her more to make him happy because he can't rely on himself.
