How about this:
To help out a friend in need, you have to do something slightly immoral.
Then later, something just a little more immoral
then just a little more...until by the end of the film, you're an icy-hearted tyrant.

Isn't that what happened to Jacen Solo, for all you EU buffs out there?
Back on topic, turning to the Dark Side, as Praetor suggested above, is a small step by small step process. It never is a sudden transformation, save for a traumatic experience, or some strange, other-worldly encountered that completely changes his personality. Other than that, it can be as simple as him wanting a power that a fellow Jedi has, but he cannot do or is not talented at. Jealousy and pride are often the two starting points, i.e. "It won't happen to me."
Or a forbidden power, but he is prideful and feels that in order to combat the Dark Side, one must understand it. I think this happened to Quinlan Vos, in attempting to capture Dooku. Again, EU, but people often think that the only way to defeat evil is to understand evil. But, then evil consumes them, pride and arrogant that it won't happen to them.

If each moment in my life slowly became more complicated and grew more bitter about not being allowed to what I felt was right to solve it. Jedi have a strict moral code that many would find arrogant and restrictive...something is bound to give as emotions always become a factor in any situation.

To toss one of my ideas out there for free use: A Jedi that realizes that the fundamental truth behind the Jedi is also the fundamental truth of the Sith, making him question everything. That love leads... you astray or [insert your own words here]. Both sides frown on it in the grand scheme of things. Attachments are bad. But than again, that could simply be one of the best ways to brainwash someone, by removing all attachments. Now I'm wandering off into random musings.

That would do it for me, Laszlo. To willingly and gladly give everything of myself and then to receive nothing in return. For others to treat me as a good worker, the hired help, but never as a good friend.

i think we need to rename this the "free cookie thread" 
hmmmm.....what if someone, maybe a government official or possibly a close friend or both combined, ruined his reputation by claiming that he is plotting to destroy the Order. when really the guy is just trying to distract the attention of the Order while he plots to take over. convincing his wife as well. so the Jedi Knight wants revenge...
