I think she was killed by the Joker, or at least held prisoner.

Yeah, am watching now, definitely love the work Rye. You captured the spirit of indy. You didnt replicate him, and I really look at this as more of a prequel to indy, mostly because your Indy reminds me alot of the Guy who Indy took after, the one he gave him the hat in Crusade, thats who he looks and feels like.
Good stuff. : )
I didn't Like Kane, thought he was very poorly acted.
I thought the Batman costume was really bad, should'a been more like the comic and not the movies. Plus, also coulda used some black around his eyes. Just sayin, but all in all, thats the only things about this, and the color timing, that I thought weren't great, but not bad either. Incredible dedication though!
Great re scoring but for many parts I would preferred some Classic Indy Williams. Worth while!!!

Vivli posted: I know you worked on it for three years, and that means some footage is very old. What bothered me the most throughout the film, actually, was Indy's costume... I thought at times you struggled to sell the 1930 time period..
You are absolutely right. One of my biggest pet peeves with this project was Indiana's costume. When we started the shoot it was originally going to be a trailer (a la "Grayson") and we knew nothing of lighting or, well, anything. And at the time my Indy costume was far from perfect. For example, his bag was never leather, it was canvas, plus the point about the hat etc. However, when we fleshed out the idea, the costume became a matter of continuity so we stuck with it and the poorly lit footage became a matter of "it is what it is." As for the 1930s... yeeeeaaaah, you're right. We shot it in 2005 with no budget so we tried to hide what we could.
Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you enjoyed it. We wanted to make a movie with Indiana Jones and Batman and we did. All we can hope is that the die-hards like you can sit through it, let alone enjoy yourself. :-)

I cannot disagree here, either. Brian and I were never ecstatic with the bat costume. It was a rental and the only thing within our price-range... donated. =) Thanks, for the compliments. I'm just glad you all are watching it!

No problem! I'm glad you didn't find them too harsh or anything. I always feel a bit harsh criticising a project that was shot a long time ago, because I know what it's like to have even week old footage where you become aware of all the flaws, and think 'well, I'd shoot that differently', so let alone three year old footage!
And regardless of production problems, the film was well written and fun, and that's just as important. Sure, Indy's costume was a bit off (I mean, I even actually own a replica of the bag, jacket and hat, so I'm a pretty big fan there, hence probably why I noticed) and some of the lighting wasn't perfect, but it was fun, and that's way more important than getting costume elements right!

Hehe, glad you got a kick out of that.
And yeah, I think you can definitely see a learning curve in the various parts of the movie. I wouldn't be surprised if you could put the scenes in order of which were shot after the others.
But regardless, we're still very proud of making this (and finishing it) and just hope people have as much fun watching it as we did thinking it up and making it.

Just watched it, and I really liked it.
I thought that the hat/beard thing was good.
Followed the basic pattern for an Indy film.
Pretty good fight scenes (the audio was a tad bit out of sync though).
These kind of films are what these boards are for.
Good movie.

EDIT: That'd be tight if we could get a higher quality version on Vimeo.

I just watched it...
The acting was really good... They could keep serious without looking false. The plot was intriguing and interesting. The Matte Painting Shot was quite nice.
It was a great film. By the way, what did Indy left back?

That's a problem with the export. I spent a long time trying to fix it but the quicktime mp4 just didn't want to sync up perfectly. Since the sound was rebuilt from scratch you can imagine how infuriating that is. Thanks for the great review!

RE: RELEASE THREAD: Indiana Jones and the Relic of Gotham

Just watched it, thought overall it was really good.
It was a fun adventure and felt just like an Indy film, the action was also very good and well-staged for a fanfilm.
I LOVED the batman crossover, I am not much of a batman fan or expert but the name bob kane was in the back of my head somewhere and I was trying to remember who he was the whole time, lol. So, for most of the movie I felt the presence of batman and the joker in an indy film wierd. I thought the film was breaking the fourth wall and going to the dc universe, instead of going to some other dimension that RESEMBLES batman's world. So in the end when bob kane said "mystery stories," the whole thing made sense to me. Nice little payoff at the end.
A few problems with it though, but nothing big.
1) The music. I thought the "tunes" (if that's the right term) of the songs themselves were good, and I myself am a fan of andy. lol. But just the fact that they're not real instruments (which I understand is no one's fault) just bothers me. If you were to be making an original film, this would not bother me as much, because I could see why you would want your movie to have an original score. But it's a fanfilm, and most of what was there was just like the indy scores and that elfman score for batman. So why not just use the actual scores? Lol. There wasn't much room to develop new themes, since it was a 30 minute fanfilm with two famous characters, so it might have been better to have background music with an actual orchestra.
2) The look of the film. I say this on just about everyone's fanfilm, and in a lot of my own films (up until a few months ago, I also shot in DV). I know for a low budget film, a simple digital camera is all you can afford/need. But why not grade the footage on the computer later on? Nothing too drastic. Just add a little more color and darken those shadows. A simple thing like that will give it so much more of a film look.
Anyway, I tend to elaborate more on the negatives. But overall, this was a great fanfilm. I could tell you put a lot of effort into it and I really enjoyed watching it.
