New film " Crossroads of Destiny '
|
 Hi , I dont think many of your remember me since its been so long since I posted here, But my name is Lou Klein and I created the film 'Contract of Evil.'
So For those of you interested, I have produced a second film called
'Crossroads of Destiny'
Along time ago many people had expressed to me the desire for more of a story and less power ranger type fight,and thats what I did, so I hope you all enjoy. I posted it on youtube as a test run and am curious to see your comments as well, I'm in the process of re-cutting and taking out some scenes but I wanted to see the general response from the Force Forum first,

First of all Lou, very good job with the film. But just to let you know this film was posted here a short while back and there were many comments made about it. Mostly good. I'm not sure where the thread is now.
Could you post it in higher quality on Vimeo maybe? I would like to see it there and there were some people waiting to watch a higher quality version, as You Tube just doesn't do it justice.
Again, good job, especially the costuming.

wow. I hadnt realized, 
yeah, I posted it on youtube to see the general reaction to the film. allot comments were honest and some hard to hear , but as always, it makes you a better film maker in the long run.
Thanks for the reply and glad to hear the folks at the Force forum have seen the film, I'm in the process of re-cutting and also deleting some scenes,so it'll take me about another 3 days and I;ll post it soon,
what's that link again you mentioned? I used to go to stage 6 allot, but since they closed I've really been out of touch with hosting sights.

It also allows you to download the media instead of watching it on the site, with that annoying white BG (if fullscreen runs slow, I mean).
I loved the movie, and I'm looking forward to the re-cut. As long as it will be available in HD :P

Wow, i thought that was great. The costumes and makeup especially were top notch. The actress playing Obi Wan's master did a great job. How did you get that background plate at the very end when the ships were taking off? Stock, or did you shoot it yourself? If so, how?

Fixed. 500 gigs would be awesome, though.
You're allowed to upload 500mb a week, basically. So if you upload anything else, and you have a nearly 500mb file, you'll have to wait until the next week when it goes back to the max.
Other than that, it works great.

How did you get that background plate at the very end when the ships were taking off? Stock, or did you shoot it yourself? If so, how?
We had a gentleman do that shot named Sean Kennedy, originaly I did the story boards and animatics but he put the polish on it. I do love that shot too. it really made us all feel like we were watching the old classic star wars.
The planet lift off plate is from Lord of the Rings part 2 . when tree beard is talking to pippen. One day while I was sick with a fever that scene came on, it just felt right and matched the landscape we had previously shot. The galaxy planet exit was complete animation with a stock galaxy jpeg image for the background with an added solar flare.
Thanks for the great comments.  In the very near future after the re-cut I will post the film as many places as I can in HD, I'm working on a new film with Ki Adi Mundi in mind. maybe between episodes 1 and 2.

at this piont no., but I still want to make it excessible to all star wars fans.
who knows , if I can, perhaps I;ll go M, scott's route like RVD2 and offer it myself online this time after the copywrite goes into effect, at a complete discount rate. I think like 5 dollars. and thats just for shipping and the DVD cover,plus I;ll consider it a donation for a new film I.m working on.
But I really dont know that grey area about copywrite and if I can even sell it anyway, so many before sold it at conventions and had no problems plus I think the team that brought you
revelations are selling theirs, aren't they?
In HD the film really pops, and with the sound mix and storyline, I really wanted to push the envelope as far as I could this time.
but there are some scenes I am deleting, so I hope not to dissapiont when the final comes to your home. Those scenes will be mostly a majority of young Obi wan asking were his parents are and other scenes he's in.
some felt it was too much dialoge and that took away from the pacing.

include it in the bonus features 
To make it sell legally, pull an RvD. Just make a documentary, BTS and other bonus material the main disc, then put the film on a separate disc as a bonus disc, and have it up for download aswell.

Just as a note, there is no HD version of the film; it was shot on the DVX about two years before the HVX was released. When he says HD, he means high-quality.

I am looking forward to seeing this in a higher-qaulity vesrion. And, FWIW, I like all of the 'extra' dialogue. I thought it added depth to the characters in a way that you don't normally see in a fan film. That's my vote.

Lou, you could always put it up as a torrent if nothing else and we could download the DVD version that way if you don't want to have to worry about charging for it. You could include the dvd cover in the zip file also. Just unzip and copy the files to the DVD to get it to load up in any old dvd player.
Keep us posted though on your plans. I'd like to get a DVD one way or another whether purchasing or downloading and burning it. CoE needs its companion. LOL!
