I've built a new sabre staff to use in my upcoming fan film.
The hilt.
The sabre with rod, it's 2.5 meters long!
And of course, rotoscoped. I'm trying to make my sabres look more like ILM's for the fan film.

Not bad, but I think this is in the wrong forum.

Maybe? There's some crossover. Certainly you'll get some good feedback in props, but here we can ask, "What are you using for the blades? It looks a bit heavy to be swinging around."

Its a really light steel I found at our hardware store, but the hilt is galvanized steel and is heavy. But it's still light enough to swing about, I just don't plan on winning the next LCC with it :P

Is this a joke?
Isn't that just a piece of galvanized pipe with couplers on the end?

Heh, coming from a July of '08 member. DaMaher, we post stuff like this all the time. Costuming and Props forum is a whole 'nother world, one we generally stay away from. The people there can be a bit.... odd.

Lol, you beat me to it.
Seriously though Darth Komar, there are many things you can add to it to customize it. It will look just fine the way it is for rapid fighting sequences, but for close ups and such people will see it as just a galvanized pipe. Go to the plumbing section again and look through the chrome fittings and you'll find gobs of stuff to use. You can also add switches and O-Rings to kind of break up the plain pipe appearance. People have made some very nice ones for less than $16.
There was a lightsaber hilt thread around here a while back, but good luck finding it with this forum's "search" feature. There are several sites out there where people display their custom lightsaber hilts, such as this guys here:
http://www.kincharbamin.com/Lightsabers--and--Props.html
You can find some good ideas out there.

You mean:
That saber-staff could be even cooler if you add some o-rings, as stated above by the fire doctor, and some black tape here and there for some minor details. Maybe even some PVC to slip on, on which you can do different cutouts. The possibilities are endless

Black electrical tape is great for doing some designs just to get that added detail in a fight. It might not be the best for close-ups, but it does make a lot of difference.
I really wouldn't use steel for a hilt, though. That is unnecessarily heavy. The hollow 1-1/4" brass pipes I (and others around here) use for a regular saber would be perfect if they came in a 18-20" length. I haven't really found a good way to connect two of them, but I haven't really needed to look either. Perhaps it's working checking out.
They're a lot easier to saw or drill through if you have some specific custom bits you want to add on. Doing that to steel would be pretty difficult.

It's a bit minimalist... Perhaps there was a minimalist art phase a long time ago...

Um ... this isn't much of a hilt, to be honest. It's extremely simple and there is no effort of design. You didn't do much with it.
