I almost didn't post this here- there are so many good quality movies that get posted that I feel kind of ashamed posting my little video, but I would appreciate feedback on my teaser for a short war movie a few friends of mine and I are working on.
This is just the teaser, mainly produced to give friends and family an idea of what we are doing, we just finished shooting the majority of the dialogue scenes wednesday, and I cut together a teaser from it. All the clips in the teaser are either raw camera shots or extremely early effects shots(i;e, only a few hours so far has gone into them) functioning more as animatics then actual shots as they will change quite dramaticly probably between now and whenever the film is released.
Also, as you will no doubt be able to tell, no ADR has happened yet.
Thanks for any CC
Mith

It could be just the late hour of the night, but I found the music and editing too slow. I'd say from what you showed, you might want to edit to a bit more faster pace for a teaser. A little less text. You don't see opening crawls for star wars teasers for a reason. Teasers are suppose to inform audience with an idea of what the movie is mild about, keep their interest long enough SO the short attention span audience doesn't go "Look, a cute cat picture."
Chinese from the east
Russians from the west
Canadians where sucked into a great big black hole
And the Mexicans fled to Cuba./plot hole?
Interesting choice to making black and white, any reason?

Thanks for the advice, I did try and make it as fast paced as possible, while still keeping it more of a expositionary teaser, but I am hampered by the fact that the action scenes are still in the process of being shot, as well as the fact that some of the dialogue I planned to put in, was ruined somehow by a finicky camera and must be reshot.
Yeah, that might be a bit of a plot hole, perhaps I will add to the script that fact that they were overrun/nuked before the US was attacked. Several of the CG scenes in development will show satellites being blown up, as well as explain [i]why[i] it devolved into trench warfare as opposed to both sides just nuking everything into oblivion.
As for why it is black and white, it was an editing choice I made while cutting it together, I wanted to not only draw attention to it, but hide some of the lighting and shading that will be corrected later in the post-production process.
Thanks for the help,
Mith
EDIT: Loved the picture btw

Looks like a promising start. I agree about the speeding up of the editing though. Each shot seemed to be held for far too long. I reckon a few seconds trimmed off of them would work out really well, with perhaps that Long shot of the 6 people used right at the end at full speed with a load of SFX over the top... just an idea.
I kinda like the choice of B&W, gives the film a more 'newsreel' feel.

If you are in fact going for a newsreel, up the contrast of the footage and add some blurred noise to it. I find that it makes much more convincing old film/newsreel if you use this method.

I wasnt quite going that far, the film is in color, I just wanted the trailer to not only stand out and be different, but also turning it B&W hides some of the imperfections of the matte I threw together in Photoshop specificly for the trailer. As well as hiding a few other imperfections that wont be fixed until post-production is well under way.

Oh, okay, I was just throwing out suggestions for what you might be thinking about doing. When do you think this will be released?

I am hoping that we will be able to release it in December-but as we all know, Darth Real Life tends to intervene and as I am starting my junior year in college this fall(as are most of my crew), I am not sure how much time we will have to work on it. If not this December then probably in the spring. Looks like a running time of about 25-30 minutes right now too.
