I've tried a couple times to submit films to TFN through their form with no response, but I thought I'd post one of my films here for you guys to see if you're interested. It was created with stop-motion animation and LEGO bricks, also known as a 'brickfilm.' The trailer was made for fun as a standalone, so there won't be any full film. Enjoy!

Wow.
This thing is freakin' epic. The shot at 2:01 alone makes me want to see this made into a full-fledged film, Legos or otherwise.

I hope TFn accepts it.

Um... WOW.

I don't think I've ever seen an amateur stop motion film that cinematic. Very impressive. Very well done. It seems you have a future in animation of some sort, sir.

I'd be interested in a "making of" or "behind the scenes."

There is a link to the written making-of on the page, click here to read it. (Lots of images, though, 56k warning.)

Wow, that is one amazing LEGO film. If I hadn't read the behind the scenes writeup before watching the trailer, I would not have known that there was any LEGO CGI in the film. Well done, I like the way you combined real LEGO elements and cg elements, similar methods used by Lucas.

Keep up the good work!

drooling ....Two Words: Epic & Cinematic...

The pacing, the angles and the way you layered and cut the music is perfect.
I NEVER even considered Lego animation seriusly..untill now...

Great Job!!

(The programs you used are pretty much unknown to me...and since Im trying to learn a 3d app Do you think "Carrara" would be a good option?(against 3D SMAX)..I know the question is a bit out of topic whistling .. )

I'll admit this. I saw this thread when it was first posted and didn't bother even checking the link out. I mean, "Lego" and "Film" go together like "Fork" in "Eye"... or so I thought. Dear the many gods, I've just picked my jaw from the floor. The word, impressive doesn't come close. Maybe toss in a few magnificent and strikings in. I look forward to the actually film, and I promise to leave all forks from the desk.

Glad you guys like it! I actually did enter the SW fan movie challenge this year, with Clone Trooper Down. My hope is that a cute, lighthearted movie may have a better chance than something like this, which doesn't fit the music cue restrictions anyway. Sorry, Penitio:

In response to the question about Carrara, it's not as full-featured as 3DS Max but it is much cheaper. The rendering/lighting capabilities of Carrara are excellent, well above those of other apps in the same price-range. Modeling and texturing capabilities leave a little bit to be desired (less of an issue with LEGO stuff) but they do improve with each release and the latest version has some pretty good animation and modeling tools.

Looking through your other videos, you set the standard for LEGO films extremely high.

This truly has to be one of the most impressive trailers I've ever seen on this board. Completely and utterly epic with stop motion animation that astounds me. I am making a stop motion film right now and I have no clue how you did it at all. I'm having a hard time expressing my amazement with this trailer right now. Fantastic fantastic fantastic. Cannot wait for more.
