While browsing Youtube, I came across the first two parts to Sins of the Jedi, a fanfilm I have always held respect for due to it building upon what made the Original Trilogy a success and lending itself more to traditional sets, masks, costumes, etc. rather than an over-abundance of CGI. Sadly, this is one of those early films in the genre that more or less fell off the map and slipped into obscurity. Seeing it again on Youtube, I decided to email actor Shaun O'Rourke, who played Solinus Keegan and provided the voice for Master Cro-sis in the film, and find out if the finished film would ever see the light of day. I told him about the film getting hits on Youtube and got a response from him this morning.

Shaun O'Rourke posted:
"It is nice to see that the film is still getting buzz after all this time. The film was originally shot in 2001. Everyone involved in the project work in the film industry. we had spent $13K to film it, but unfortunately the film was never completed in post production. I still posses all footage of the last two parts to complete the film, but have not been able to finish the project. SOTJ just sits in a tin can in the closet.

In the years since we filmed the movie technology has really made leaps and bounds. I would love to re-edit and update all FX shots to current levels and I think the film would be one hell of a fanfilm. I just have to find a dedicated FX crew and a few more bucks to make that happen."

Sounds to me like Sins of the Jedi isn't dead. At least not anymore. If you're as interested in seeing this film finally finished after all of these years as I am, I'd encourage you to send Shaun an email telling him so. Maybe we can drum up enough excitement to get this project rolling again - and maybe there are even individuals in these parts who would be interested in volunteering their talents to finishing Sins of the Jedi. In any case, I'm glad to hear this project hasn't been completely abandoned, even after all this time. Shaun's email is: shaun1138@yahoo.com (for anyone interested).

Well, "need a dedicated FX crew and a few more bucks" is certainly not the same thing as "back from the dead." I could tell you of a number of fanfilms that'd be "back from the dead" if that was all it took.

Still, good to hear.
