Looks pretty neat. I'm worried about the lack of practical sets, though. It looks like it's almost entirely green screen.

ANH is essentially the story of a guy out in the desert who meets a crazy old man, joins a terrorist organization and blows up a government building
...from a certain point of view.

I have a feeling you're not going to see a lot of sets in this film. But tomorrow you should be able to see quite a bit in the Boba Fett Chronciles when it's finally released. There are quite a few in that film based on the trailer.

As long as it's a seamless look, the absence of practcal sets and the use of green screen and matte paintings or CGI sets is fine with me.

C'mon guys, this is not the Prequel StarWars movies! George should be slapped around for using so much green screen.....but a fanfilm.....Wow.....they should be praised over and over for having the guts to pull off digital environments and utilizing such up-to-date tech in their film.
And from the looks of their photos.....the enviroments look freekin real!
Digital effects are awesome....just cause George over-used them doesn't make them "bad" to use.
Let's wait and see the finished product....and like I said, from the pics it looks to rock the fanfilm world once again.

Considering the cost to build real sets (renting additional space, materials, labor) I can see why digital is becoming more of the standard. It's one thing if the sets are mearly dressed up venues of some sort, but to completely build a set only to have to tear it down again is costly and a complete waste of resources now that there's a much more viable solution. As the digital artists and the technology improves it will look and feel all the more real.

Well said my friend....Lucas just got a little too excited and wanted to be the pioneer of the digital age, thus practically made everything digital except the actors themselves.......but regardless, the technology definitely is the way of the future and allows filmakers to express their creative vision.

Before there is a disagreement about which tech is better, I think that you should watch Volume 1 and see what they can do with green screens. In my opinion, I was more impressed by Vol. 1 simply for the fact that most of the sets/environments were green screen.
Keep in mind that Lucas is not the only one pushing for the digital age. "Sin City" and "Sky Captain" were both primarily (if not all ) green screens.

I frequent the forms at originaltrilogy.com, and most of the guys over there are purists and didn't want their films tampered with. I completely understand that. But I'm probably one of the few older generation fans that, for the most, part liked the improvements in the SE...with a few minor exceptions of course.

But no matter what your (I'm speaking generally here - not to any one person here) view is on the use of traditional sets vs CGI, you have to conclude that the work by the DR crew is pretty amazing even if you're against the use of CGI. The only drawback I see is that the dialogue is not in English, but even I understand why and can get past that. The subtitles sure help.

This is one reasone why DR2 staff use green screen...The Director would like to turn into a real set but it's very difficult because they have not the necessary budget to buil it.
Also for that, as you can see, on the dark resurrection site, there is the link "Become a producer of DR 2", a kindly way to help this project.

That was the last session for actor Mattia Stancanelli, who played Thor in DR vol.2 prologue.
Here, Mattia with Angelo "Doc" Licata (the director).
