First - I've had a few people lol at the title. It's subject to change.

This will be the first episode of a redo/reboot of the Star Wars films/universe. This isn't just some changes like changing Jar Jar's attitude and dialogue, it completely redos Episode I. The only thing that remains is that the Trade Federation invades a planet - which is now Manaan, not Naboo, and they invade it for different reasons.

Anakin Skywalker won't be found on Tatooine, he'll be in the Republic Army (there was no Ruusan Reformation). Obi-Wan Kenobi is already a Jedi Knight and Qui-Gon Jinn, renamed Neeja Halycon, has ideals contrary to the beliefs of the Jedi Order. Padme Amidala is a Jedi, rather than a Senator. Dooku is on the Jedi Council.

And Jar Jar Binks doesn't exist whatsoever tongue .

The idea of this went from being a novel, to a script, to a photonovel, and finally to a fanfilm. I'm hoping to buy FXHome which has effects such as explosions, ILM lightsabers (they actually do say "ILM" on them), blaster effects, Force lightning, and compositing. It's $150; it looks perfect for what I need it to do, but would anyone else have any suggestions for anything better and/or cheaper? Adobe AfterEffects is way too expensive for me. I'm editing with Pinnacle Studio 10 (will probably upgrade) and doing this in 720p. The first shot finished was a Jedi starfighter approaching Ruusan.

The plot is mostly finished and some actual scenes have been started. Hopefully filming will start this summer. I'm not using actors, but Hasbro figures used as bases which live-action elements of the original actors will be added to.

Below is a comparison of the original figure image and the final image with blended figure and live-action elements.

The live-action faces won't just be static, either; there will be lip syncing, voiceovers, and other facial movements. I'll be making the "base images" in Photoshop. Animated computer panels, like those that will be in the Millennium Falcon, and Hyperspace, will be composited onto the images in FXHome, for example. To make it even more cinematic, there will be anamorphic lens flares and at times shaky camera. None of this film will be shot with a video camera.

I'll also be using stopmotion for things like head turns, drawing lightsabers, and walking. Most of battle scenes (the exception being mostly closeups) will be done with Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Academy, and Battlefront (all modded), both because it'll be easier and the results will be much better.

Here's some of the better images I've done for a Star Wars photonovel, just to show what my work is like.

Also, the alternate universe logo:

Comments and questions are welcome happy . I don't need any voice actors yet, by the way, that'll be in post-production.

Unsure about the concept, but I really dig FXHome. Very happy with the sabers, contact flashes, optical effects and explosions. Never had any joy with Force Lightning with FXhome though.

Looks like an interesting concept. I hope you see it through.

You say you're pasting original actors' heads onto action figure bodies, and I'm interested in how you're planning on including the lip sync. I'm assuming you're either going to do it Clutch Cargo style or something like this, but I could be wrong.

Also, is "Neeja Halycon" an accidental misspelling of "Nejaa Halcyon", or is it an intentional departure?

Good to hear that another person on the boards has used this and is happy with it. The lightning effects can be found on the FXHome site as downloadable presets.

I might actually film myself saying the lines, and then paste my lips onto the characters.

It's intentional.

LOL, hadn't thought of it like that before.

By the way, what would people think if I used Hugo Weaving for Thrawn?
