Problem importing video in After FX
|
I captured some footage with Premiere 6 and saved it.
When I imported the movie in AfterFX, I got this error message
"After Effects Error: The file 'filename' requires a compressor which is not available (53::33)."
I looked up tech support on Adobe, to this page:
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/a032.htm
Fact is, I don't understand what they say! Sounds like Chinese to me! I really need help, it's for a school presentation!!!
Thanks

I suggest you recapture it in premiere and save as a different format, like wmv, avi, or mov....

Don't let them promote you, don't let them transfer you, don't let them do ANYTHING that takes you off the bridge of that ship - because while your there, you can make a difference. I don't believe in the no-win scenario.

I had this problem also. The solution I found is after you capture it into premiere, put the video on the timeline and then export it as uncompressed video. After Effects then understands it for some reason.
What the difference between captured uncompressed and Premiere uncompressed video is, I have no idea.

it means that whatever codec it was encoded with u don't have it to decode it. Kinda strang though, considering you encoded it with premiere. If I were you I would use Uncompressed AVI's or the Huffy codec. Huffy is a mathematically lossless avi codec that cuts the file size by about half (usually about half). You can find a link to the Huffy codec website on my website (in my signature) under the news section.

you right-click on one of the files (forget which) and click "install" on the right-click menu. This is Windows of course, don't know if it will even work on Mac.

Just render everything out (in both Premeire and AE) in uncompressed format. This will solve any problems you are having.
Do you have Quicktime actually installed on your machine? If you do then you should have a few other options to choose from. Animation compression is a pretty good option to.
