I think the material and the color might be the issue. You wouldn't think that stone would be used for space transport. If it was a metallic surface like the inside of a star destroyer and had a sliding door mechanism. . .? How about that?

Yeah, I was kept awake at night on how many LED's appeared in the storage container because that was the climax of the movie and all. The story just seemed a little off after that scene and how visually devoid it was.
For this reason, I must protest the movie. I cry now.

RE: RECIPROCITY
"Real world logic would state that grain-storage would be pretty spartan,"
Actually, there *was* a scene that would have helped to build on the facility, but it got cut. Initially, there was going to be a CG aerial shot of several other "storage bins" like the white one we went into. Various craft would fly down, attach to them, and lift them into the air. Although the container itself would be simple, this extra movement of vehicles around would have helped the scene a *great* deal. In the end, it got cut for time and technical reasons. I would have liked to have kept it in... but I just couldn't get it finished.
I agree though, something else would have helped that scene a lot. Visually, the parts outside the container for that scene were the weakest for the film I think. (Inside I really loved the black against white look).

RE: RECIPROCITY
hmmmm do i hear the sound of impending special edition? lol...
ok, i just downloaded and watched this film for the first time today... and i gotta say, this is one of the best fanfilms i've seen... i don't care what anyone else says, i found the "earthy" dialog refreshing and the acting in this film is excellent! i truly believe that this film is worthy of award status. as i said, the acting was excellent, the special effects were original and very well done (though the interior pan of the inquisitors ship as they were preparing to take off wasn't camera matched too well, but the rest of the film more than made up for that minor quibble)
i had one more little issue... why does the interior of the cockpit of a close quarters ship sound like it's inside an auditorium? lol...
obviously my issues were EXTREMELY minor ones, and nothing that would detract from this truly original, and EXTREMELY entertaining film.
thank you for your hard work, it really shows in the film you created... great work, guys!

RE: RECIPROCITY and Revelations
I happened to be directed to this thread as you guys were talking briefly about Revelations. Let me say thanks for your interest and enthusiasm. I happen to be the director for Revelations, and your right it is a huge fan film! That was the point of the project. We wanted Revelations to be a vehicle to drive a fan film further than it has gone before, involving artisans from all areas, props, costuming, set, directing, actinf, camera, lighting, CG..etc. We wanted revelations to be a project that would let people live the dream of doing star wars, gain some recognition for their excellent talent and work, and perhaps move on the further their careers. We are all fans, and when I decieded to do Revelations with Our Producer, I said we are going to do it right, and as professional as possible. Yes our fist shot had about 60 people, and the 2nd (the Corellian bar scene) also had close to 60.. get the big shots out of the way, and it's easy going afterwards. A small crew as you guys were talking about is always better.. alot cheaper to feed!! It cost me..out of my own pocket.. close to $500 just to feed my extras! You have to take care of the people who have dedicated the time and energy to be in your film. Would I do it any other way? Well, I wish my pocket book didn't hurt so bad, but NO I would have only do it this way. On a grand scale. As a fan we want to give fans what they want to see. I wish I could do even more, and even bigger if I could. The budget comes from what I can..tap out those credit cards
beg, borrow qand steal : ) I bartered alot for favors and services. But most of the time people hear the work Star Wars, saw how we were shooting this at a very professional level, and were all into it with us. Revelations involves talent and crew from most of the East Coast (NY, NJ, MD, DE, VA, NC, to name a few)
Don't hate us..we are all on the same team more or less.. Just like you we love to see what other directors and productions are putting out, true we hope Revelations will open a whole new look on Fan Films. We are wanting to give audiences something to enjoy and impress upon the industry what a fan film can be. raise the bar if you will. Plus it's star wars.. It been all of our dreams to do it. If you are making a fan film, thinking of one, or in post, don;t get discouraged..god know I do all the time.. make it happen, if you have done the best you possibale can that you have everything to be proud of! You made it and people can enjoy it..at least we all hope. Anyway..listen to me..
So.. to go over a few things for you,
Yes Revelations is a large project..huge is more the word. I have worked in the idustry for about 10 years or so..nothing big, just this and that. I have a BFA in Directing, acting and the Producer has a BFA in Film. Most of our talent and crew have worked in the industry or community at some degree, and all are very dedicated to the film.
Revelations is not just about eye-candy. The script is very plot and story based and not just a " Ah HA.. I fight you.. Ah Ha, I fight you too!!" film. It even has some interesting twists, and ties in very welll to the current films. the only orinal star wars characters in the film are Vader and the Emperor. Of course stormtrooper and the like as well.
I am glad you guy are impressed with what you have seen so far.. my biggest fear is that after all the time, effort, energy and money..it will be crap, and who knows it still could so don't get to jelous. Do what you can and do what you do..it star wars guys..what more could you ask to do or be in??!
Sorry for the long post..

RE: RECIPROCITY
Uh...er...let me apologize for the "Revelations" director's post to this topic. Don't hate him, it's my fault and I'm new to the forum! I had posted him a link to a closed topic and failed to tell him.
In other news...and ON TOPIC! I think RECIPROCITY is a huge effort and I'm very impressed. Especially reading how it took 2 years to film. I haven't been able to see the whole film as my computer locked up halfway through and we had the same sound problems mentioned earlier (I will give the lowering of the bass a go).
It was mentioned about the order that the film was shot and how perhaps the best shot was the opening sequence and shot last. All I can say then is your next project will be even better! You have clearly learned a lot and it showed.
The earlier comments about the female jedi's costume looking like a t-shirt and dockers...well, I hear you on that. If we were a big budget and had hollywood backing us, everyone would buy into it but since we're fan films then we already have one strike against us. Hollywood costuming is about the shopping much of the time. Aside from the local militia costume I think the costuming for the film was well done and in keeping with the SW feel.
I look forward to seeing the whole movie someday
For now, kudos to RECIPROCITY for their hard work. It's a big film, a huge amount of time, and you're not getting paid. You're doing it for the love of SW, and the fun of filmmaking (or so I'm assuming).
I hope you do make another film. It would be a shame to waste all of your knowledge making this one and not put it to use on another.
And again, apologies on the whole "Revelations" thing.

Does anyone Or JediTac if you read this... Is there a place where I can find JediTac's reviews on FanFilms? I've read two or three but going through the rest of the message boards isnt cutting it for me. I cant seem to find some movies that I would think may of been reviewed.
