I posted a topic like this a long time ago. I'll post it again in case new films are out.

alot of ppl are make fan made star wars movies. i've even see lego movies, but why is there barely any interest in making star wars ACTION FIGURE movies?! when u make a movie with the action figure its like having the same actors that played in the original movies, but just smaller happy

the action figures have their own guns, sabers, cloths, vehicals, everything. all u gotta do i add in the sound, FX, and music.

I've seen a few action figure movies, but none that i think are any good (All the ones i see are just 1 or 2 mins of good f/x with no story)

do any of u know where i can find star wars action figure movies (or non star wars) that have a good story first of all, and then good special effects.

Well think about it dude, making an action figure movie is gonna be a hell of a lot more tedious than making a regular fan film. And I don't think too many people are all that amused by them. Personally I shudder at the thought of anything to do with stop motion.

yeah but wouldn't it be easier then doing it with lego's?! lego's are 1/4 the size of action figures. and the whole movie doesn't have to be stop motion. just on action scenes.

Ewing Squadron was making what looked like a really cool action figure film - with talking mouths no less! happy but he went and got himself all bored with it and seems to have shelved the project for the time being sad

I hope he starts it again one day. That clip where the guy said'Animate what the actor is thinking, not what he is saying' was a clip I saw and just thought Wow, this could just be SO cool

As for a lego film, we posted about the trailer for Episode III - Rise of the Empire a while ago, which was really nicely done. It was very well shot and looked like a feature film in terms of composition, so done well I'm sure someone could produce a cool film using either action figures or legos'.

I certainly don't think the genre is played out just yet.

Just for the record, I'm currently working on a large action figure film.

Yes, I am indeed working on a action figure film. The film went through two long years of preproduction and is now in the production stage. I was orginally only into doing Star Wars fan fiction, and after finishing three long fictions(something like 24,000 words a piece), I decided to turn one of them into an action figure film. I chose to do the second story because I see it as the easist to pull off. It is called, The Shrouded Treachery. The story is set when Qui-Gon Jinn is a young Jedi student. He and a Jedi Knight find themselves stuck between two waring worlds and have to settle the dispute. The story has alot of fun in it and quite a bit of action. Its going to be one of those fan films were there is no lightsaber to lightsaber action, there is no Sith or even dark Jedi, just two Jedi that help restore peace to a struggling planet. Maybe that will be boring to some, but hey, that's the story.

I think an action figure film has both posititve and negative features. In the positive light the film requires no actors or any of those probelms, and it may be easier to have a film with much more scope. On the negative side, action figure films often look humerous, they are very time consuming, and it is hard to display emotions. So making a serious action figure film is difficult.

As far as the film itself goes, I am working on interior sets and should begin filming soon. I started working on the film's preproduction in 2000 and hope to have a finished film by 2004. I have poured alot of money and time in this project, so I hope it all works. I hope to be putting some "making of the fan film" video on the net sometime next year, but so far there is no actuall footage I can show you. You can see some of the concept art here: [link=www.angelfire.com/mi3/unseenally/behindthescenes.html] Concept [/link]

It is nice to see people interested in action figure films. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Personally, I find that the Lego guys work better because they're more stylized. The usual sort of action figures might look more like the real characters but the range of motion isn't that much better and the result ends up pretty jarring.

Besides, building sets isn't easy - especially Star Wars-type sets. With live-action it's a matter of understandable sacrifices for realistic budget. With Lego, the stylized blockiness lets you get away with more. With action figures? In the middle with the worst of both worlds, if you ask me. I've seen some nice dioramas, though.

Of course, if you're really upset about the lack of action figure movies, the best thing to do is grab a camera.

I made a 25 minute action figure film back in 1999 that's main claim to fame was it premiered alongside Bounty Trail, Sacrifices and Dark Redemption.

TFN seems to have a marked aversion to action figure films for whatever reason. My flick was hosted at Jedinet for a while some time ago, but I can't afford to pay for hosting myself, and I haven't pursued any other avenues for hosting.

Just like there are good and bad live action films, there are good and bad action figure films. Evan Mather remains the king of the good ones.
