...we were even the same age when we saw Luke standing there looking out to the sunset too....spooky! definately Generation Jedi!
Nearest I can get is a 'kind of' binary sunset in my home area here...Newcastle UK.

All I can say is that I am glad I have been around since the very beginning, I was 11 when ANH or Star Wars as it was then first came out and I have enjoyed the ride ever since!

They bring tears to my eyes...
Edit: Now I want to know from the younger crowed out there. Does the image of the twin suns bring up as much emotion as it does for us older folks? When I was a kid, all my friends would talk about this scene, and what it meant to us. We all pictured ourselves in Luke's shoes looking up into those suns and wishing for the stars. Is this also true for the younger ones out there. Does this one scene define star wars for you as well, or is it just one of those "dated" scenes that Lucas should have gotten rid of in his later revisions?

Goes to show that we can be as passionate about something through the years as we were at that very first experience. 'Young until I die' - thanks Kevin Seconds!

The Binary Sunset scene along with the wonderful Luke's Theme music and the Force Theme Music will always stand out in my memory. It was very touching that GL should bring that full circle for us in ROTS.
But
This is the scene that will forever stand out in my memory as clear as it was yesterday though I was 7 at the time and it was 1977.
I saw this on an old Cinemascope, concave wrap-around screen about half a football field wide! They just don't make theaters that big anymore. I got to see Star Wars in Cinemascope and this thing flew right over my 7 year old head on that massive screen!
I knew from that moment on that Star Wars would own me for the rest of my life, and so it has! I never tire of it. For nearly 30 years, it has been one of my great joys!
Its wonderful that I can share it with so many others now, thanks to the Internet.

Cinemascope..wow...you lucky man! I bet that was awesome!
I cant wait for the 3D versions to start coming out in 2007 at the cinemas...will be interesting to see how ANH comes out with this 3D treatment...could be interesting...
My nephews, who are now the age I was when I first saw ANH, will be lapping up every minute of it with their Uncle - the same Uncle who doesnt mind going right down to the front row, just to get the experience of the ships better as they fly over and who cheers louder than the kids when it comes to the Rebels winning! They think its great to have an Uncle that will go back to the cinema multiple times to see the same movie...I wouldnt have it any other way

I was 10 in 1977. I had seen the television ads first. Two images stand out in my mind, one, Luke rolling around on the ground to avoid the sand person's hitting him with the gaff stick, and Luke holding a blue lightsabre in front of his face. IMHO, maybe 9 and up year olds should be considered the 1st Gen. Old enough to follow along and not see anything like it before, but young enough to have a lasting impact.

I'm a young'un (a mere 29 years old) and yes, the twin suns do still get to me and have done since I first watched Star Wars. Another thing that does is the purge of the Jedi in ROTS. I still remember my husbands face in the cinema in may with a tear in his eye at that bit. I prefer the original trilogy because they ARE Star Wars and as I see it, the latest 3 are good films but not quite in the same league. By the way, I hope to see some of you in july at Earls Court.

...Earls Court is a large event venue in London, UK
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earls_Court
There will soon be an event called the London Film and Comic Con held there.
http://www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com/
Its a large event and there will be people from the Fan Force UK going to it. Likely, a lot of us 'thirty somethings'.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Why can't they have that kind of thing where I'm from....Oregon, USA? They sometimes have big events like that in California, but that's a bit far to drive.

Here's another topic I've been thinking about related to 30 somethings.
I've noticed that most active Fan Force Communities are generally run by 30 somethings. In my local Fan Force here in Oregon, the fan force was generally not that active when most of the members were 20 somethings and younger. But now that there are more 30 somethings posting, the fan force seems to have come alive, and we actually just had a meeting.
I'm thinking that the reason is mainly because 30 somethings tend to be more organized and have more predictable schedules (i.e. working 8 to 5, therefore have meetings in evenings or weekends). Where younger members schedules are more random and it's harder to organize a meeting when everyone can come to.
But it may also be that 30 somethings are just more motivated to do star wars activities.
A third idea would be that 30 somethings are so desperate to make friends that they will do anything to meet people . I never had trouble making friends when I was younger and in school.
Any ideas?
