Is anyone taking their spouse (significant other) who is not a SW fan to C3?
My wife is saying that she wants to go, but I am concerned that she will not enjoy the time and that it might be better to try to talk her out of it.

I took my wife and my little girl to CII. She did not have any fun at all. So saying this she will not be going to CIII this time around. And another reson she will be going to CIII is that she will be 8 1/2 months pregnet.

Hmmm, we were also likely to be taking my daughter who'll only be 2 and a half years old at the time...
She's letting you go away to C3 when she's 8.5 months?!? WOW!

Funny you should mention that. My wife was 7 1/2 months preggo when I went to C2. Let's just say I heard about it when I got back.

My wife is a good sport about my Star Wars addiction. She's taken me to the Smithsonian Exhibit and gone to a John Williams concert with me. But four days straight of Star Wars would like result with her eyes permanently rolled back in her head after running into her 9,482nd costumed fan. It's all she can do to keep a straight face whenever we come across any 501st event.
My wife if she was at C3 -------->

Oy, ya'll are making me think I made a really big mistake in getting her a 4-day pass. I thought I was avoiding a problem when I said I wanted her to go, because when I asked if she wanted to go, her response was: Don't you want me to go? Talk about a loaded question!

I'm not married, but when I was, I never took my husband (who was a non-fan) to any convention. The reason is, I didn't want to hear the constant complaining about "can we go now", "look at all these freaks," "lets do something else" etc. etc. Celebration 3 is no place for the non-fan. They will NOT enjoy themselves, they will NOT enjoy standing in lines all day long, they will NOT enjoy the crowds, and they will NOT enjoy any of the panels because they are not fans. At the very least, if they go, they would probably enjoy themselves most if they stayed in the hotel room, or took tours of the city, and explored the surrounding areas. The Indianapolis Tourism board can provide a list of other things for people to do who are not going to the convention. Then after the convention, you can have dinner and spend time with your non-fan significant others. Of course... a lot of the real fun is after the convention.

I told my wife that this will be that last Celabration. And there is no way I will miss it. On the other side of thing she can always have another kid.
I will have a cell phone and so will 4 other people that I'm going down with. So she should be able to get a hold of me. Plus Indy is only 4 hours from Detroit. So I should be able to make it back in 3 if I drive like a nut.

Wow, I'm lucky I've converted my wife into a fan. My two boys, who will be 2 and 5, will be coming as well. I'm sure they'll get bored at some parts, but we're doing it!

I tried to talk to her about not going, but she said that she wanted to make a vacation out of it. I decided to get a really nice room at a hotel with good amenities, so I went with the King Suite at the Hilton Indianapolis. The room is huge, there's a pool in the hotel, and plenty of things to occupy her nearby (or so I've been told).
I guess if she does change her mind I'll need to find a roommate...I doubt I can afford a $152/night room for just myself...

I don't think you should count your wife out. Here's a perfect opportunity to educate her in your obsession. At C2 there were some great exhibits. You could use these to explain how the props were used to film the original movies. If Star Wars in 30 minutes is back it would be great for fan and non fan. If she's a people watcher then she'll be in heaven. I'm sure if you think about it you'll find other opportunities to rope her in and give her a better understanding of why you love Star Wars enough to put up with the madness. If you're taking your daughter dress her up and let all the folks fawn over her. What mom wouldn't eat that up? Explain clearly to your wife what a madhouse it's going to be and enlist her help as a line marker. I stood in line for my son and some of the best times I had was talking to everybody in line with me. Our conversations weren't always centered around Star Wars but included work, school, and family. I met people from all over the world.
Try to make sure you include some "we" time and not just "me" time. Find time to treat her to a romantic dinner. Research alternatives for her if she doesn't want to attend all day. I know last time someone posted other things to do in Indy. I think it was posted in the faq. Indy is a beautiful city and has lots to do.
I'm sure she would love to be able to understand what you're talking about when you start telling everyone what a great time you had. There are lots of reviews and pictures on the web from C2. Get her to do her own research and make her own decision.

I second CarolynNC, RS. Teach her the ways of the Force!
Seriously, it IS a great opportunity to show her the many different aspects to Star Wars and why you enjoy it so much.

She's not completely ignorant in the ways of Star Wars. She's just not as "into" SW as I am. I think the bigger thing will be trying to make sure that I don't get in trouble for having her watch our daughter the majority of the time by herself. I wonder if the hotel would have a sitter...

I too asked my wife if she wanted to go. However, I think she said yes just to please me. I would love for her to go, to know why I love Star Wars so much, but like Dal's wife, she would just be rolling her eyes in bordom...so I am taking my Father-in-law! I know, I know, it sounds wierd, but we are pretty close. We have a lot in common...like hockey(I know, no hockey!) and other sports, plus I'm married to his dauhter! So I think I will take this time to give him a little scholling in Star Wars 101! And I also need a picture taker becuase I will be in my Darth Vader suit most of the show!! I sure hope I don't die!!

I was going to bring my lady who really doesn't know much about SW , i told her not to go the first day with me.
She asked why, I told her the first day is all about standing in line at the souvenir line for con exclusive figure.
She said she would go around the city or come back after I was done with the souvenir shop.
