Darth_Tofu posted: so I have a question, I drink a lot of water, how is the tap water in LA? Should I bring a filter or something with me or invest in bottled water? Or is it drinkable. (By drinkable, I mean that I dont want to feel like I'm drinking a swimming pool)
GROSS. I mean, it's some of the hardest water I've ever tasted, almost hard enough to get up and walk away on its own. The hotel tap water might be okay if their internal system is super filtered, but I live in Glendale (not far from downtown) and you should see our calcified spigots. I miss yummy east bay area EBMUD water, it's the only thing I really don't like about living down here now. We have numerous 'water stores' (I'm not kidding- stores that sell only purified water. For real.) around here, and my visiting brother just about had an aneurysm the first time he realized I was going to one. He didn't anymore after he tried the tap stuff... Best bet: Most of the major grocery stores have Glacier purified water dispensing machines outside (Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons stores etc.), which is 25c a gallon and tastes great. They dispense in 1 or 5 gallon increments. Or you can just buy water. I'd buy a cheap gallon or two at a store, and then decant into a sport bottle for carrying around.
But do indeed bring water -- it's better for you when walking around (on possibly a warm day) than soda, and cheaper.

Or, if your staying at a hotel, you can just use the water they leave in your room. The last place I stayed only charged $5.00 a bottle. I told my boys that if they even thought about using it they would be paying for it!
I bring a cooler filled with water and drinks and just use the hotel ice to replenish a little each day. Or, if you're local, freeze at least 1/2 of the water bottles and use them to keep everything cold. Much less mess! Throw one of them in with your daily water supply and it will melt, and you'll have a really cold water by afternoon.

*points and laughs at Tom* haha, Nor Cal person.
I wonder if I should make a CA Lingo thing for out of state/country people.
And yes, I would reccomend either bringing flats of water or bringing a water filter. Our tap water is flavored (and not in a good way).

Can somebody confirm if there is a Staples retail store located within a short distance from the LACC?
Just curious, as I would like to use them as a possible shipping alternative since it would be cheaper than shipping from the UPS/FedEx booth located in the LACC.
Thanks.

Yep, the Staples is at 1701 South Figueroa-- it's just a couple blocks south of the LACC. I don't know how much stuff you are planning to ship, but if you can carry it, you could just walk there from the convention.

If you want to get technical, it's a half mile south of the convention center, just on the other side of the 60 freeway.

I am going to invest in a water filter. I can fill up water bottles and store them in my room.

I need to hang out with the LAFF more. I've lived in So-Cal all my life and have never even heard of the place.
