I agree with Opal. Separate vacations are best if your significant other doesn't share your passion for SW.

It also helps if you pick a time when your mate is in a really really good mood before telling him/her you've already booked a room for the latest SW Con. I've been married 31 years and speak from experience on this subject. whistling

My husband isn't into Star Wars as much as I am, but he will be going. At C3, I just let him do what he wanted to do, whether it was just staying at the hotel or just sitting and watching all the activity at the convention. He wouldn't even go see George Lucas rolling_eyes (I was doing guest escort that morning) and I haven't let him live it down yet. whistling So for CIV he will do what he wants, while the rest of us geek out.

Disneyland, Knotts Berry far, etc. are good places for non-SW fans to hang out while we're at C-IV.

My wife's family lives in/around Hunnington Beach, so while I'm at the Con, the wife and kidses will be with family or playing at a theme park or the beach. Granted, because of the cost of Disneyland and other said theme parks, it will limit my time/spending at con, but it beats not going at all...

I love and adore my husband very much. That being said, I think the key to a happy marriage is seperate vacations. tongue

He spent a week at some Dukes of Hazzard fest this year drooling over orange Chargers while I stayed home with the little tykes. Next year I get to geek out at CIV and he gets to spend quality time with the boys.

That's funny. They actually have Dukes of Hazzard conventions? Where I live, it's called the local watering hole. Ha! I live in a place called Hampstead which reminds me a great deal of Hazzard County. =)

Well we're filing for divorce over the next couple of weeks so it's not going to be a problem for me. So, if any of you Star Wars hotties wanna hook up with a gently used father of two... I'll be at the Fig. HA! =) I'm kidding. How tacky. We'll meet at your hotel. HA! =)

I hope you don't mean that. A large portion of our lady Jedi here are fairly smokin'. One does not find chicas of this caliber at a Trek convention.

plus, guys you find at a star wars convention are less likely to be suffering from 'seven of nine syndrome'

if you need a definition, let me know.

Just an FYI, there are companies (Starline Tours, All Los Angeles Tours, and the like) that will take you on tours of L.A. These companies pick up passengers at the downtown hotels, and all points elsewhere. Plus, if you take the subway to Hollywood & Highland (or are staying around there) there are a couple of bus companies that pick up people right outside the Chinese Theatre, for tours of Hollywood.

And if money's no object, happy , there's a wonderful lady that I know that runs a company called "Take My Mother, Please." She does personalized tours of L.A. for about $100 per person. Not cheap, but fun.

You put the jedi ming trick on her. "You don't need to go anywhere else" "I don't need to go anywhere else" "You need to carry all my cool star wars stuff that I just got" "Let me carry all the star wars stuff for you"

LOL too funny, Jay!

Hey, my dad wasn't into SW at C3 to the level I am. When he pointed out Boba, I was shocked. It was a huge improvement over C2 when he told me to have a saber duel with Fett.

Anyway, he loved Star Wars in 30 Minutes.

Oh yes... while I do like a good Slave Leia once and awhile... I can imagine nothing more exciting then waking up in the morning smeared with blue make up! =)
