Since I've broached the subject of Leeesa Rinnna, where is the nearest Belle Gray boutique? She's got to have a B/G T-shirt. Buying one online won't cut it. she wants to go there.

Thanks for this great thread. Keep those suggestions coming please. I plan to be on the west coast for 2 to 3 weeks. Since I'll be traveling so far I want to see and do lots of things. I'm going to decide on a game plan after I find out what this announcement means.
starwars.com posted: Lucasfilm is also working on other Star Wars-related events in the Los Angeles area just prior to Celebration IV, "so we're expecting Southern California to become 'Destination: Star Wars' from the weekend before through Memorial Day weekend," Sansweet said.
Once I know what's planned I'll know how much else I can fit in my trip. I'd like to visit Disneyland, travel down to San Diego, and travel up to San Francisco area. I remember the Redwoods from my childhood camping trips across country and would like to see them again. It just depends how much I can work around C4.

The nearest one is the Sherman Oaks location:
13812 Ventura Boulevard
Sherman Oaks, CA 91423
Monday – Saturday 10:00am to 6:00pm
Sunday 12:00-5:00
Tel: 818-789-4021
It's about 15 miles from the convention center. It's good that your wife wants to spend some money there. Now that Lisa's show's been cancelled, she can probably use the cash .

She didn't skip you; we are working on it!
I know a place BUT I am not 100% sure they have what you asked (not a huge Mexican food fan, sorry) so I need to call and find out.

What NP said...
You can of course, walk down to the garment/jewelry/toy district in downtown L.A. and find lots of taco trucks and hole in the wall places... but no "A" cards... and no Roberto's. I'm waiting for my L.A. worker bees to chime in with their favorites. I'm hoping they have some .

Oooh, bummer on the Robertos (though I'm going to have to treat you to Lolitas next time you're down here for something. BEST MEXICAN FOOD in San Diego).

I am not too sure if this is spelled correctly, but there is a street I visited on my last trip to LA, called Olivera Street. It is a very cute street where you can buy meixcan clothing and gizmos and gadgets. You can also eat real Mexican food there and they have the best churros in the world. It also has a wonderful big tree at the top of the street that has alot of culture involved in it. I absolutley loved the street, it was a very nice place to visit.
Also, on that Johnathan thingy...His salon is in Bevery Hills on the west side, and by the way the haircuts are no longer $400, they are $800. I cannot stand this guy either, he is pompas and a real idiot, but it takes someone like that to make an $800 haircut popular. Also, if you did want him to cut your wifes hair, I suggest making an appointment now, because he may be booked.
And on the topic of Star Wars...does anyone know if they give tours at the Skywalker Ranch? If so when and how do you sign up?
OH AND I SUGGEST EATING AT MAMA'S. This is a place were you can get some awesome Mexican food. It is just a little streetside shop and you eat outside at a picnic table. It is so good it will make your mouth wanting more. Also, if you do want to eat here, do not order too much food, their items are all so fullfilling. Their burritos put Taco Bells Grande Burrito's to shame. More than a pound a piece...yummy!!!

Well, I've looked through blog after blog and restaurant review pages galore, and nobody can tell me if there's a place that sells Carne Asada Fries in L.A. You'll have to stay in San Diego for that LOL.
But, I've got two recommendations for you. My East L.A. connection says that there's a great hole in the wall place there called "El Tepeyac." Best Mexican food in town, he says. He volunteers to be the tour guide LOL.
Then, my buddy from USC says to mention La Barca, at 2414 South Vermont Avenue. Great college hang-out with great food and even better happy hour. It's a short DASH bus away from the convention center.

Skywalker Ranch is up in Marin County, and it's a good 6-7 hour drive from Los Angeles.
And it's like Willy Wonka's factory: nobody goes in, and nobody goes out.
You're always welcome to go harass the gate guards, though.

Yes, Olvera Street is near downtown. The birthplace of Los Angeles. Very kitschy and touristy, but the margaritas are good. Opinions are divided on the food. You've got purists that say avoid the place, and other locals that say it's just fine. YMMV. It's across the street from Union Station, which means you can take the Metro to get there.
And sorry, Amidala, they don't do tours at Skywalker Ranch. However, the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco is open to all, to walk around. This is the new headquarters of Lucasfilm. You can see information here. It wouldn't be a day trip, but if anybody's got some extra time....
I've never heard of Mama's. Where is that?

Since it's open at 6:30 AM, this is always a possibility for early morning eats -- and one of the treasures of Los Angeles:
Clifton's Cafeteria
Located at 648 South Broadway, Clifton's has been in this location since 1935. And yes, inside you'll see things like this:
The bear will greet you as you enter.
Inside looks like a redwood forest, complete with waterfall and stream. It's cafeteria-style, cheap, and one of the hidden treasures of downtown L.A.
It's a pretty straight shot for a walk over from the 7th Street Metro Station, about five blocks. Reverse your route to go back for the train trip to the Convention Center.

Wouldnt it be cool if we could get tickets to a Price Is Right taping and show up in costume? I don't know why I mention that since I don'tdo any costuming, it just might be cool to see an episode with a crowd of Jedi in the audience. This would be an all day thing, taping those 1 hour shows is a lot of waiting in line and then sitting quietly, but maybe a day before or day after Celebration thing.

The Price Is Right tapes at Television City which is near places like Farmer's Market and The Grove. Fairfax and Beverly if memory serves. A considerable trip from Downtown LA.
