I don't know what other airlines are doing, or how strictly this might be enforced, but on my way back from CostumeCon a few weeks ago, along with weighing my suitcases, the lady at the Delta check-in counter measured my bags, too.

Delta has a 62 in., total measurement for checked bags; that means that if you add the height, length and depth of your suitcase, the total cannot be any bigger than 62 inches. Again, I don't know what all the airlines are doing or how strictly this would be enforced (they didn't do this at my local airport), but it's something to watch out for.

I plan on using the Shuttle bus that goes to the Holiday Inn. The web site says its $15.00 one way and it will run me there when I need it.I called the hotel and "Robert" told me that the will circle the airport about every 5 min and just ook for the bus with "Downtown" in the window. MOFF D , Is this what your talking about?

Anyone know about mass transit to and from Long Beach airport? Is it available (and usable)?

Public transportation from LGB to downtown Los Angeles is going to be difficult. You can cab it from the airport to the closest Metro Blue Line station at Wardlow; the cab ride is around $15. Or you can catch the Long Beach Bus #111, which will take you to the Blue Line station in downtown Long Beach. Fare is cheap, but if you're going to have a lot of luggage that might be difficult.

Your only other alternative is a shuttle service; Prime Time, Supershuttle and Xpress Shuttle all service Long Beach, and will take you downtown.

Just going over the SuperShuttle's reservation info and because I'm pretty dense, I'll have to as stupid quesiton, just to make sure.

On the Reservation page there is a Departure (TO the Airport) Itinerary
bos to fill out and a Arrival (FROM the Airport) Itinerary below it.

Departure is when my flight is leaving from where I am and Arrival is when my flight leaves LA to go back home?

It's the Departure (To the Airport) and Arrival (From the Airport that has me confused. I would have switch arounf the To and From. thinking

Most of the time you would be correct; however this time you have it backwords. In this case your departure would be the day/time you are leaving your hotel for the airport. The arrival would be te date/time/flight you are getting into LA.

Just a heads up to everyone Using Super Shuttle. If you have to change any part of your reservation, you will be required to cancle your current one and make a whole new one.

I'm glad I asked then. Wasn't sure if it was just me that made it more confusing.

Thanks! grin

Just booked round trip with Super Shuttle. Pretty easy to do. I used the link from the email GenCon sent out a few weeks ago. They have predetermined departure times to take me back to the airport. My flight leaves at 10:20AM and they are picking me up at 7:10AM. Is this enough time? I hear you have to be at LAX super early - like three hours early sometimes... I am taking Alaska Air and the lines are usually not as bad as for United or American in other airports, but for LAX I am unsure. Am are worrying too much (as is usually the case with me)? worried

What day of the weekend? Are you departing on Monday? If so, they are assuming they will be at the airport two hours ahead of time. You are in Terminal 3, with American Airlines, so TSA times are a little higher, but two hours is enough.

I have a question, my flight arrives at 2:45 on Wed., I am considering going right to Will Call from the LAX to pick up my Badge etc.. then to my hotel, to save time but I am concerned about lugging the suitcase around. Anyone have any thoughts about my plan or should I just go to the hotel first?

The bag check area may be open that day -- you'll just have to check. But since the rest of the convention hasn't officially started (except for the marathon), they may not have anyone manning those areas yet.

Otherwise, you could go straight to your hotel and leave the bag at the bell desk, not bother to check in or go up to your room just yet. Then you can retrieve it when you return to the hotel.

Thanks, it may be best just to drop them off at the hotel first.
