I'm not sure if there is a thread for this yet, maybe I'm too early for there to be one but we need a place for all of us to come and say g'day, don't we?
How many Aussies are going? Where are you staying? I know woppo and Azreal are going from Tassie.
I haven't booked anything yet as there's a few things I need to sort out but I'm thanking the Force it's in LA as it means the airfairs won't be TOO much.
BTW, I've neverbeen overseas either so this'll be a first.

I wont need to post that im going to go..I know of a few of the Aussie 501st members who plan on going, plus see a few othe rpeople on other boards saying they are going....unless it is you?

I have to get hyperspace before I go as it seems a waste not to have it.
Can anyone quote me any hotel rates in approx Aussie dollars? Where's the best deal? What's full?
It's kinda funny as I work at a place that organises cons so i know how this stuff works.

They haven't released the room block hotels or the rates yet, so we're all waiting.
But just for comparison, 200 Australian dollars equals 151 American dollars as of today.

That rate is a lot better than last year for C3, was about 71 cents to the dollar, 3 years ago it was at 61 cents

At this time Im getting into LA on the saturday before the con, unless there is something really big done by lucas ltd on the saturday, then i will get there friday, so it depends on what day the disney thing is on and also what the 501st have planned.

I had two chances to go to disney world and land last year...did not get to either, only thing I would really want to do would be the star tours

There are a few of us from Star Walking Inc., travelling from Melbourne. We will be flying to Florida on the 15th for the Star Wars Weekend and then to Los Angeles, Anaheim (Disneyland) then back to downtown LA on May 24 for the midnight screening of Pirates 3 and then attend C4 later that day.
We found a hotel that is 1.5 miles from the convention center with reasonable rates and good reviews (www.tripadvisor.com). The Comfort Inn Los Angeles, West Sunset Blvd. Rates are from $96US (before tax).

It may be a good idea to check if you have the right hotel. I've been doing research on hotels for the past few months, and I'm almost positive that the Comfort Inn that's near the Convention Center has this address:
1710 West 7th Street, 90017.
The Comfort Inn on West Sunset Blvd. will probably be a 15 minute drive to the Convention.

Yes I looked at that comfort inn hotel on west 7th street its around a mile away and seeing it from a map its sort of in the north west direction more or less going towards the dodgers stadium, I just looked it up on their main site and their room rate works out $159 - $179 per night.
Sunset blvd from what I have seen on tv looks a good place to go on a night out though with all the bars and clubs along the strip.
