It's not so the quoting of the movies, but it the shared experiences with other fans, its the booing of the bad guys and the cheering of the good guys. Where else are you going be able to see your favorite movies with 4,000 other like minded people? Disneyland will be there next month, next year this experience will not.
So I'm going to go see the movies.
Plus it alot closer and cheaper than Disneyland. More money to spend on frivolous Star Wars Stuff.

Still Disneyland for me, even if it would have been nice to see the marathon. When our fanforce had our marathon (and we included the CW animated series as well) I was down with a really bad cold so I was just semiconscious during most of the films.

Why not go to the movies? The odds that you will be sick this time are around 725 to 1, although I have been known to make mistakes...from time to time.

Typical woman... I'm probably gonna change my mind. As hyped up as I was to go to Disneyland, I'm leaning towards seeing the movies. I agree with Ludicrous. It's the shared experience with other fans that's so appealing to me. This is really a tough choice!

I'll be working but if I was off I'd go to Disneyland. Not gonna watch the films on the big screen with the masses until they release 3D versions.

Oh, honey, that is WHY we go!!!! Can't be too "Rocky Horror" for me!!! Yeah, if it's a new theatrical movie that NOBODY HAS EVER SEEN, sure everyone should clam up. But really, come on, it's Star Wars! My 'reverent silence' days as far as SW is concerned, are looooong gone, particularly for the PT (and that was when the PT *came out*! You should have been in Burbank for midnight opening of AOTC -- the audience in our showing was, shall we say, uh, delightfully restless...)
Anyway, I am not going to the marathon. Y'see, old creaky me and several other people I can name on these boards, went to the OT marathon FOR FREE (i.e. that is, *included in the price of admission) at Worldcon 1984, AND got a button, and that was enough for me. I don't feel any sort of need to pay an ADDITIONAL fee for the 'privilege' of sitting in an uncomfortable convention center chair (and they ARE, we were just at panels at Wizard World this past weekend, and hours in those chairs are not going to do your back or rear any favors...) for hours on end, with no decent restaurants for meal breaks, to see the marathon 'not' on *the big screen again*, as people are gushing, but more like *the big (convention center meeting hall projection) screen*, and from an unknown source (Digital? Print? DVD? who knows?) for another button. This has nothing to do with age, it has to do with the principle of the thing. If I'm being forced (heh) to pay more, then it better well be at the Arclight or the Chinese. I mean, come on. Really. Go to Disneyland and enjoy yourself, or whatever other plans you have! I plan to!

There is no additional fee for the marathon. It's still free. You just have to reserve your spot that's all. When they showed the movies at CIII I thought it was of a very good quality.

Were gonna need another Timmy...lol, sorry had to say that one.
My family will be arriving in LA at 10:45 a.m on the 23rd. We are flying Delta, so I pretty much expect that we will be on time.
All we have planned for the 23rd is the following:
1. Go to the grocery store and stock up some Hotel foods and lunch items to pack up the fridge with.
2. We will prolly take the kids swimming in the hotel pool and check out the surroundings.
3. Also, we will prolly go check out the Convention Center and pre-check that out. Just to get familiar of where everything is and to learn where all the big events are going to take place.
4. Go back to the hotel and eat an early dinner or hang out with some fellow fans for a while. We plan to get to bed early that night so we can be in line around 4 a.m. I will be in line early while the husband takes care of the kids. LA at 4 a.m. is no place for a couple toddlers, so they will join me in line later that morning.
So, if you need any help or any questions just PM me and I will help as much as I can. This is our second Con so we know the lay of the land pretty well, and plan to make up for wrong decisions from C3.
