Ok fellow Peeps...I believe we have some numbers here. I was able to get on much earlier than I thought, originally I thought it would be late before I got to post, but thank goodness for the husband comming home on time today!!!
I was unable to get any wholesaler to agree to help us, I even tried to get them to give us a discount and I would put their logo on the badge, but no dice. They said if we were a bigger group they may consider it, but being that we are small they cannot help out...whatta crock if you ask me, they are just another coorporation out to screw the little guy. Sorry for the potty mouth, but it just really ticks me off.
Here is a list of the materials and cost per badge, this includes PayPal fees and shipping and packaging. If you want insurance just let me know.

I am not charging anything for labor and I am not making any money, I just ask that everyone give me time to complete each badge. I do have two small children and a husband and house to take care of, so all I ask is that you be patient. I will get your badge out to you, and hopefully I will have them all completed by Christmas, I am hoping by Thanksgiving because I have my costuming to work on.
HERE ARE SOME EXCITING THINGS...
What we have decided to do is to number the badges. We thought long about what to do with all the responses from people outside this site. So we figured that numbering them will bring their value up after the convention. We plan to make 200 badges total and number each one. The numbers will be given out according to payment received. I cannot save anyone any numbers because it would be too confusing and not fair to others. So this is how the distribution of numbers is going to go.
1 to 10 will be my family's numbers. Sorry if tis offends anyone but we worked so hard on these and we deserve the first ones
11 will be George Lucas
12 will be Rick McCullum
13 will be David Prowse
14 will be Hayden Christiansen
15 will be Steve Sansweet
16 will be Mary Franklin
So, I plan to begin the numbers at 17. As each payment is received I will write down the names next to the numbers, and keep a list. When I go to ship the badges I will make sure you have the right numbers. I will not tell you your number ahead of time simply because I do not have the time to keep emailing everyone their numbers, I need to get these badges completed and that is where all my time is going to spent. Wow, this is a novel.
Anyway, this is some very special news. The first people who order their badges will be receiving special edition badges. These will have a gold star on them because only 150 of the 200 will be special edition. We are doing this because I want TheForce.net members to have the special ones. I will need to sell all the badges to make back the costs so we will see how we are going to handle that. Right now we are going to focus on the orders on the list. Then we will make others.

Great job, Connie. Hopefully in the end this way works out much better for you.
I can't wait to get my two badges! My wife and I are totally psyched!! 
But you may want to change the dates on the badges to "May 24th - May 28th" instead of the 23rd, since the 24th is the first official day of C4 (for Hyperspace members). Just a suggestion...

I would just like to ask if its possible on some of these badges to have our forum usernames on the badges so if then at least you bump into someone wearing one on the lanyard the first thing they would not have to say is "wow cool you have one of those badges just like me whats your username then"

I would love to honor this request but it would make things much harder on me. My suggestion is this: If you want your forum name then, on the badge there is room at the top and the bottom, just affix a label there or buy those small stick on letters. Also, if I were to put the forum names on them, they would be personalized and then probably loose their collector value.
I am working on the badges now, and will start shipping them within the next 8 weeks. Hopefully, they will be going out before Christmas. I would have had them done sooner, but lack of payments slowed things down. I will be contacting you individually to let you know when your badge(s) are complete and when they are shipping out. I do not know the airlines view on battery packs, so I would check with them before wearing it on the plane.
Alrighty, well May the Force be with all of us...cant wait!!!

Yes, you can still order badges, I have not sold all of them yet. If I do not sell them all in the next few weeks I am going to start posting them on Ebay. I hope this helps all you guys who still wants them.

YES...They are still available. As for the weight, I really have no way to weigh them. I have put one around my neck and wore it for as few hours while working on them, I forgot it was even on. I think they are comfortable, if that is what your are leaning towards. I attached it to my old lanyard from C3 and it seems to be ok to me.
Thank you for asking, and if you are intersted please let me know soon, the first shipment will be going out hopefully by Christmas. I am making them all one step at a time. Right now I am re-cutting the paper and sending them for 8mm lamination. Then I will be placing on circuit boards and wiring them up. Soldering is a meticulous job and must be done careful so as not to fry the components. Anyway, let me know!!!

Well Yoda, you are entitled to your own opinion, but just to give you a little heads up:
George Lucas has one so I doubt that they would not have just a little value, maybe no huge value but some. Also, I have been approached by a few venders wanting me to make them in mass so they can sell them at C4. Obviously, I turned them down because I do not want to make money on the project, I am in it for the fandom of it, not the materialistic part of the project.
No hard feelings, I just think they may be worth alittle more than what you are saying, I mean knowing that George Lucas has one makes the value go up to me, maybe not money value, but prestige value.

Unfortunately...YES!!!
Except the cost of the badge itself is $35, the $5 extra is for paypal fees and shipping fees that were not accounted for in this mess. So, this means I am only $7000 in the hole from the endeavor. I am hoping that I will make it all back, funny things is I maxed my Galactic Rewards Charge Card, funny it should be that card.
Needless to say, my Husband is not too happy, what I may do to make up all the costs is Ebay the ones not sold. Once we are finished with the ones we currently have orders for we are going to Ebay the leftovers, which I really wanted to stay away from, but this endeavor has caused alot of stress. Then, whatever I do not sell on Ebay, I will be bringing them with me to C4, and try and sell them on site, or give them to a vendor to sell for me with a commission for them for selling them for me.
I do not know how it is going to pan out, but I have been praying alot and beating myself over the head at the same time. I have never done anything like this before, and I figured since I was getting an outpour of emails about the badges, I would have no trouble getting rid of them. MY MISTAKE...I GUESS MY GRANDFATHER WAS RIGHT WHEN HE SAID "DONT EVER COUNT ON ANY MONEY UNLESS YOU HAVE IT IN YOUR HAND, BUT THEN AGAIN SOMEONE MAY TRY AND STEAL IT AWAY!" He was a wise man, I miss him dearly!!!

We are working like little elves trying to get the orders filled, hopefully by Christmas they will be in your mailbox.
ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE: We have just found out that I am PREGNANT, we are very excited and feel very blessed. We have only been trying for 2 months and now we have a bun in the oven. I told the hubby that at least now I dont need a false tummy for my Padme costume, by that time i should be 7 months and big enough to fill it out. Another funny fact...at the last convention I was PREGNANT with my daughter, so it must be THE FORCE excitement that gets me prego...lol.
