I don't want to start anything, but I find the implications behind this comment quite insulting.

I'm certainly don't see that as a personal dig at you. It's generic advice -- pushing oneself back from the dinner table with a little bit left on the plate is a step in the right direction for any weight loss program, wouldn't you agree?

very true, I just don't appreciate it being implied that I am not physically active or that I don't eat sensibly.
I'm just taking it personal. it's a sore subject for many of us on here, I'm sure.

JediXtine posted: One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn. That's two regular sodas! Just a little tidbit I found in my travels.
Mmmm, I had a feeling it was something like that, but I didn't know for sure. Cheers for the reminder.
When I went to the gym about 6 months ago, I hit it pretty constantly for about 3 weeks solid. I lost about 7kg (15lbs, or something to that effect), and I was burning something like 1000-1200 calories per session. It was hard work, but I did get the results I wanted. It's been pretty much a no-show since then, because I just haven't been in that frame of mind, but now that 2006 is up, and we are into the final stretch before C4, I want to get back into it.
It will be tough for me to do that, and give up smoking at the same time, but if the reward is there at the end of it, I'll give it a shot.
I've been eating a lot of crap over the last couple of weeks, with it being Christmas, and all, but thankfully, I've only put on a couple of pounds. I go walking every night for about an hour...even in the wind and the rain! I would definetly suggest that to people...walk to town and back. Keep it at a reasonable rate. Don't over-exert yourself, just enough to be comfortable, but still picking up a little pace. Every little bit goes a long way in the end.

RemyCat, that's exactly why I rejoined the gym today - there'll be a lot of walking at CIV and I don't want to get tired and miss anything!

I'm on the right track. Yesterday, being the 1st, I didn’t really want to do anything that didn’t feel like fun. So I pulled out the Mario DDR mat, popped in the game, and attempted to complete dances on the hard mode for 40 minutes. I’m really glad no one was watching, because I messed up those dances royally, but I kept myself moving and broke a sweat (still haven’t figured out if it was a result of the dancing or me trying too hard to concentrate). Yay! That means a big gold star for the first day of the New Year!
So today was my Bootcamp360 Strength and Flexibility Basic Workout. I started with a warm up of just dancing to 3 songs (gets my heart pumping while I’m having fun and cheers my mood up for the idea of working out). After the songs were over I popped in another CD and went through some simple stretches while noting if any of my muscles were sore. Then I did the following:
30 reps of backward lunges with my right leg and 3lb weights in each hand
30 reps of backward lunges with my left leg and 3lb weights in each hand
30 reps of plié squats with 3 lb weights in each hand
30 reps of hamstring rolls with arms out using the ball
30 reps of inner-thigh exercise ball squeeze
30 reps of outer-thigh half-moon with right leg with 8lb weight on thigh
30 reps of outer-thigh half-moon with left leg with 8lb weight on thigh
30 reps of standing calf raises with 10 lb weights in each hand
60 reps of knee swimmer
60 reps of standing arms rise with 8lb weight
30 reps of one-arm exercise ball row with right arm and 8 lb weight
30 reps of one-arm exercise ball row with left arm and 8 lb weight
30 reps of knee push-ups
30 reps of chest press on exercise ball with 10 lb weights in each hand
30 reps of resistance-band pull
30 reps of standing overhead press with band
30 reps of standing lateral arm raise with 5 lb weights in each hand
30 reps of standing biceps curl with 10 lb weights in each hand
30 reps of hammer curl with band
30 reps of knee triceps push-ups
30 reps of standing triceps press with 8 lb weight
30 reps of exercise ball crunches
60 reps of bike on floor
60 reps of dead bug
30 reps of floor oblique on right side
30 reps of floor oblique on left side
30 reps of exercise ball push-out
60 reps of side toe touch
32 seconds of the plank
Then the cool down is 30 seconds in each of the following poses:
Downward dog
Spinal twist right
Spinal twist left
Pigeon right
Pigeon left
Quadriceps stretch right
Quadriceps stretch left
Hamstring stretch
Calf stretch right
Calf stretch left
Chest and biceps stretch right
Chest and biceps stretch left
Shoulder stretch right
Shoulder stretch left
Triceps stretch right
Triceps stretch left
I made sure I had music going the whole time. When I felt like I didn’t want to keep going any further I’d take a water break (to stay hydrated) or a dance break (to stay motivated). This workout isn’t as easy to get through as it was when I had someone doing the workout with me. Yet, that just adds a challenge to it. Yay for the second gold star of the year!

How is everyone doing? I have been under the weather, so that put the brakes to my initial new year's plan, but i'm doing better now and Monday morning after work I am starting back at the gym. Now if I can only find my Ipod.... 139 days to go, we can all do this! I need to look good for my Jedi costume!

Wednesday and Thursday I was really sore and opted out of doing much. Did a bit much the day prior since I'd neglected things for a while. But got back on it yesterday with the Bootcamp360 Strength and Flexibility Basic Workout. I was sore still, so it was harder to get thru, but I made it. Drank six cups of water during that workout too.
Anyway, today's workout was a fun dance workout
Looking forward to tomorrow too

Hi everyone! I found this site called weighins.com where you can create weightloss challenges and track your progress. If anyone is interested the url is below. I set up a group for lose 30 by the 30th, Jedi vs. Sith. There aren't any rules, and the grand prize is a leaner body. If anyone wants to join the group the link is below. And if you don't want to use your actual weight, no problem, start from 30 (or whaterver your goal is) and track your progress !
