Has anybody actually seen the inside layout of the LACC? I was just wondering if it was situated similar to the way the Indy CC was (just on a much larger scale).
Are there more than one floor for convention space? Or is it just one huge floor, kind of like an airplane hangar?
Thanks.

I've seen it, of course.
It's two levels; there are two separate buildings, separated by a walkway aka concourse (upper level). There are two very, very large exhibit halls in one building (South Hall and Kentia Hall, which is the lower level space) and two large exhibit halls in the other building which can be divided. All buildings and the concourse have meeting rooms - a lot of them. Both buildings have dining facilities.

Is the convention centre bigger than the one in san diego???
I have been there for comic con so I can work out the scale of this space station.

Wow, sounds like it dwarfs the Indy CC. Gen Con and LFL better fill that space to the hilt...

While the one hall in San Diego is a larger continguous space (the exhibit hall), Los Angeles has more overall space. San Diego's convention center has a total of 700,000 SF of meeting and exhibition space, L.A.'s is 867,000 SF. Or, 65,032 and 80,547 square meters, respectively.

Yes the exhibit hall is pretty big, I mean I consider myself pretty fit and active but walking from one end of the hall to the other in stormtrooper armour seriously wears you out.

Do you think they will have dedicated rooms (one for men, one for women) where fans can change into and out of their costumes? I know you can technically use the bathrooms, but I doubt they would be large enough to accommodate lots of fans at once, as well as the bulky and elaborate costumes.

I don't know for sure, but I think this would be a real security issue. They'd have to hire security for the rooms, and that's an additional expense; then, even a disclaimer that "you leave it -- we're not responsible if it's stolen" wouldn't stop people from suing if something came up missing. GenCon or Lucasfilm may not want to take on those headaches.
Did they have that in Indy? I'm not into costuming, so I don't know. If not, it's surely for the same reasons I mentioned above.
You could "ask GenCon" this in that thread, if you'd like. Maybe some day she'll get back to answering simple questions.

Sorry, I didn't see this!
There are no subway stops right at the stadium. There are bus routes but they don't come very close. So, the short answer is no, you really can't get there via public transportation. Only thing to do if you're really want to go to the game is to cab it from downtown. Pick up a hack way early and you won't have to pay all that waiting time because the cab is stuck in traffic LOL.

On page 6 of the Event Planner's Guide on the LACC's web page, in their FAQ, it says:
Can I check in my bags and luggage at the convention center and have my personals be transported directly to the LAX Security Check-in?
Yes. Now you can efficiently and smoothly check in baggage at the convention center and get your boarding pass to LAX. For more information consult your event manager. This service is offered on particular event need.
That could be awfully handy for anyone leaving CIV on the last day, even if there's an extra fee involved. Will this be available at CIV?

I mentioned this in the Airport Transportation Info thread.
It's up to the convention organizer, i.e. GenCon whether they'll have it available or not.

I didn't see this question being asked, so I hope it's okay. Are there any lockers available to use at the convention center? I found the lockers very useful during C3 in Indy.

At C3 it was not really a big issue as all, the hotels were in close walking distance plus you had the skywalk from the
convention centre to some of them so pretty much most people changed in and out of armor in their rooms and walked along the skywalk. As for lockers they had some onsite but they were only the same size as what they have at school.
The only way I can see it working is having 2 separate rooms, one for changing and the other for storage. What you do is get suited up into your costume and take your storage container with your things to one of the workers or have them fetch it for you and in exchange they give you a ticket, which when you want your things back you have to hand over the ticket, just like a cloaking system really they have at nightclubs and so forth.

You might check with the 501st? They may be making arrangements for folks to "armor up"?
Don't know, but it seems like they would....
