Moff_D posted: Of course, the odds of being a guest handler, which everyone will want to do, are slim. More likely you will get stuck selling coupons or crowd control.
But don't let my words deter you from volunteering! I heartily recommend the experience. Its generally worthwhile, no matter what you are doing
"Floater" is a good position to have because you could actually get picked to be a Guest Escort... thats what happened to me the first day of C3.

Yeah, I was kinda irked by that for C3 but then I got mine signed by Kenny Baker (front) and Ian Liston (back)... so it worth it in the end.

I got mine too. But then again I had e-mailed Anne within a few days of C4 being announced promising to volunteer. LOL

I got a note from Anne announcing me as an OPX volunteer (YAY!)
Be nice to me out there, it's my first time volunteering (for anything for that matter)!

Yeh, I got my confirmation as a volunteer.
obi-TN, I agree with you, I mentioned in the application in the "What you didnt like about volunteering for OfficialPix" part about the commpensation. Hell, I am volunteering and I am not really in it for the "stuff" BUT if they are goign to compensate us I would rather it be what I need to complete my collection that random autographs. I am pretty picky about the picture I have autographed, having it personalized, and getting the few signers I do not already have.
My advice for the new guys, just be nice, smile, and most of all use your head. My last day I was crowd control and ended up being a personal escort for Bai-Ling, mostly because I ****-blocked the guy who was suppose to be doing it. He kinda looked confused as to where he was suppose to take her and I jumped in as fast as I could.

At CIII, on the last day some volunteers got together to trade the autographed photos they received - it worked out for me because I received ones that I already had. Maybe we can do that again this time around.

I'd also be glad to trade. I don't collect autographs so I'm willing to trade just about all mine. I worked at C3 and ended up giving some of mine away. I still have some I dug out recently. I'm thinking about taking them to C4 and maybe giving them to some of the younger fans. I heard lots of kids asking their parents for money to buy autographs.

Yeah, I just found that out. Maybe it's cuz I asked Anne myself about that. I'm signed up!
I like the trading idea. Maybe at the end on Monday we can get together at OP and see what everyone got.

So I might as well ask... anyone have any horror stories to tell about your volunteering for OPX? Not with the company specifically but more with customers, etc? Just curious since I have been accepted as a volunteer and would like to prepare for the worst. lol

Nope -- everyone I dealt with was happy to be there and get autographs. Didn't have any "problem customers." I was a guest escort and shift leader, and everything went smoothly the times I was there.
