Forgive me if this has already been covered, but does anyone know how payment is going to work?

At C3 we went around to each artist and received a voucher that we payed for at the register and then went back to get our print. I actually liked this method because I could just charge everything at once.

I thought I read somewhere that at C4 we have to pay each artist individually in CASH, like you have to do at a comic-con.

Is this true?

I hope you didn't read that!

I can't imagine they'd do anything differently from the past. None of the artists I have contacted for pre-orders has said anything like that.

As far as I know it is still occuring the same way as C3. I haven't heard anything about paying the artists directly in cash so that would be a surprise to me...I mean some of those guys are selling 250 prints at a $100 a piece or more. That would be a lot of cash they would have to walk around with...

You pick up a sales form from the artist (it's in triplicate). The artist fills this out (I believe one for each item). You take the form to the Art Show cashier to pay. The cashier keeps one copy and gives two back to you marked "paid". You come back to the artist and give them their copy of the form as proof of purchase and you get your print (or other artwork). You keep one copy of the sale form.

PLEASE NOTE - We the artists have NO idea if you actually paid for the item until you come back and pick it up with the approved "paid" form. PLEASE pick up your art after you pay!!
Don't walk off with plans to pick it up at the end of the day. We can't save your print (unless you make specific arrangements with the artist).

There were many fans that would pick up sales forms and then never pay for them. We only know you're a paid customer after you come back with the form. Please try and only take a sales form if you're serious about purchasing - saves us some paperwork and confusion when we wonder if you're coming back.

I've heard that several artists that will be attending Celebration Europe will be creating complimentary prints to their C4 work. I'm not going, so is there any way that I can get that without resorting to the secondary market? Looks like I'll be looking for a European friend next week... Thanks for any insight.

I bought my prints on the first day at C3 but was unable to pick them up until the last day, Sunday, which wasn't on purpose due to my volunteer schedule. I was lucky to pick up all of my prints, though I did end up with one artist proof print since he ran out of his prints by Sunday. Hopefully it won't happen again. But thanks for the reminder. Now all I have to do is plot which prints that I want really badly, since I can't afford most of those wonderful prints.

Hello everyone --

I am in transit as of this afternoon.

I will still be taking advance orders at mark@markraats.com but there might be a delay (possibly until Tuesday), before I can respond.

Please stop by the artists area, there are a lot of especially talented artists showing their work and I'm sure you will find something perfect for your collections. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone.

cheers

MARK

Do any of you lovely LFL artists know if SWShop.com will be selling any left over prints after C4 is over, like they did after C3? Considering I can't make it out to C4 I'm hoping they will. *fingers crossed*

I would imagine they would. It seemed to work out pretty well.

I've gotten a lot of PMs about Commissions and some folks don't seem to think it's in their budget. I more then understand and to make it easier on those who want something but want to stick within their budget, let me show you what I'm doing at the show, by request, and the costs so you can plan ahead:

For $25 I'll be doing 11 x 14 Bust sketches on demand, no limit on how many you get, I just ask if there is a line, you get yours and come back for another They would be B&W with some greys and a color:

Also for $25, I'll be doing 3/4 Quickie sketches on Cardstock (or your sketchbooks). They are pencil drawings like this:

Then there are my sketch cards, they will range from $20 to $30. $20 for a pencils only card, $25 for a fully inked card and $30 for a Ink/grey toned card. My sketch cards were produced by the same company that made the Topps sketch cards and they look like this:

2 different fronts:

and the Back:

I'll also have a VERY limited amount of sketch books I made just for the show, they're $10 each while supplies last. I'll have original art for sale from the Hyperspace webstrips. Those will be SPECIALLY PRICED for C4 only, $25 each OR 5 for $100 (No I'm not joking). and some a bit more high end art pieces like some of the work from the "You Can Draw Star Wars" book.

I hope this helps those who feel the full commissions are a bit out of their budget. Regardless, come by, say hello even if you don't buy anything.

Tom
