GREAT NEWS!
I just talked with a super nice lady in the E-Grill and she told me that they just stop serving food at 10 pm but the bar/lounge would stay open as long as people were in there until 12 or 1am.
Lets make it the original 10:30PM to we can make sure they don't close on us.
I'll probably be there by 10pm myself.
OK?
Eric

ok i work at hicc (monel65)Update here:
I(Amidala081499)
found out some information that I know everyone will like to hear. The Hotel will offer a complimentary shuttle within a 3 to 5 mile radius. We do not ofer shuttle I asked the front desk clerk about grocery stores and they said that, when you arrive, make a request to use the shuttle, and they will bring you to the grocery store and the best part...its free. This is great news, at least for us who want to save money on food!!!
Update here:
The refrigerators are NOW complimentary.no there not its 15.00 per day However, you need to put in a request. I asked about the $15 per day charge and they did not comment, so I dont know what to say about that. When I originally called they said there was a charge and this time there is no charge. So, I guess you just have to choose your poison on this one...lol.
Update here:
If you want to confirm your reservation do it through the housing bureau. The hotel does NOT have the list yet, they cannot help you with your reservation until the bureau releases the list to them. So, if you have a request or need for something, you need to contact the bureau. I CALLED THE HOTEL TO CONFIRM MY RESERVATION THIS EVENING AND I ASKED ABOUT THE FREE SHUTTLE.
IT TURNS OUT THAT THE FREE SHUTTLE THEY USUALLY OFFER ....WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE.... TO US. THE FRONT DESK CLERK SAID THAT THE HOTEL DECIDED NOT TO OFFER IT ANYMORE FOR CONVENTIONS IN GENERAL, IT IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO GUEST NOT ATTENDING THE CONVENTION have This is not true we do not [/hl[hl=red]] a hotel shuttle. THIS IS TERRIBLE BECAUSE I WAS UNDER THE ASUMPTION THAT WE COULD ALL GET TO A GROCERY STORE NOW. WELL, IT TURNS OUT THERE IS A SHELL GAS STATION WITH A MINI-MART, ONE BLOCK AWAY, FROM THE HOTEL. THEY OFFER MILK, JUICE POP AND SMALL ITEMS LIKE CHIP AND DIP, THINGS LIKE THAT.
THIS IS FRUSTRATING...BUT HEY WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH THESE SETBACKS. ALSO, THE REFRIGERATORS ARE $5.00 no its 15.00 per night A NIGHT AND ARE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. MOST HOTELS OFFER A REFRIGERATOR FOR FREE, BUT NOT THE HOLIDAY INN. ...i dont know who you are talking to but the info you r giveing out is wrong if you like you can call me here martin 213-748-1291

Hmmm... so I think this is saying there is no hotel shuttle for local drives and the refrigerators are $15.00 per day. Did I get that right?

Hey, I am the General Manager of the Holiday Inn- City Center, and we are very happy that your group is coming to Los Angeles. Thank you for choosing the Holiday Inn- City Center. There are some inaccurate posts on your thread. The hotel has never offered shuttle service of any kind in the 42 years of operation. Super Shuttle is the cheapest form of transportation to and from the airport. Parking is $17.00 and does cover in and out privileges, valet or self parking. (It is the same rate year round) Refrigerators are $15.00 per day and we have a total of 20 on a first come first serve basis. (Same rate year round) Cribs are in fact free; we have a total of four cribs on a first come first serve basis. Kids under 12 eat free off of the kids menu. They must be with their parent or guardian, and the adult must be a registered hotel guest.
In response to the convention center staying open until 12:00 for this show we will be amending our restaurant meal service hours and bar hours. If you want guaranteed space we have meeting space within the hotel. We are anticipating the restaurant to be packed during the show based on the number of calls we have been receiving. (FYI)
The hotel has an individual web site at WWW.HICITYCENTER.com, and the main web site is available at HolidayInn.com. (Individual site is better)
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at j.kelly@hicitycenter.com, or you can call me at (213) 748-1291 ext 7204. Our goal is to ensure that you have the best experience we can provide you during your visit to L.A.
Best regards,
John Kelly

Interesting that the Reservation line for Holiday Inn (not the actual hotel itself that we are staying at) could not give out correct info on the refrigerators...

Good grief...
I think the HICC needs to take their employees off to the side and educate them. Over the past few months I have been calling, geting info. and listing it here on the site. I think it is terrible that I was given the wrong information, makes me LOOK LIKE A COMPLETE LIAR...and I dont relish that. Also, its funny how the cost of the refrigerators keeps changing. I called just last week and was told the costs are $5.00 per night. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! AGAIN...MAKES ME LOOK LIKE A LIAR AND I DONT LIKE TO BE ENGAGED AS SUCH. I have been trying to help out on the threads by posting information that I felt was importaant to everyone. SO...PLEASE DO NOT PM ME CALLING ME A LIAR...AND THAT I POST WRONG INFORMATION...THIS IS THE INFORMATION I WAS GIVEN AS A ATTENDEE. ITS SAD HOW SOME PEOPLE TAKE YOUR WORDS AND TWIST THEM, I HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO HELPFUL AND POST WHAT I FELT WAS CORRECT INFORMATION...
Anyway...moving on...I think 10:00 may be a little late for some of us, is there any way to change it to around 9:00. I have small kids and they need to be in bed, but I would love to meet everyone as well.
Can's wait to meet everyone and party like its Naboo at the end of EP1. Love ya guys!!!

Ahh, w/ that matter now resolved let's get on w/ the good times (well, at least until we are standing in the 3 or 4th line LOL!!!)
Thanx 4 the info/resolution John
Amidala081499 - No worries at all - Don't fret - SITH Happens!!!! (Heh, Heh, Heh)
In this day & age we must deal w/ miscommunications of all kindz (if this is the worst situation over the next week we'll be lucky)
Ignore the PM's filled w/ nasty Over-Reactions
Since I've been frequenting these boards I have been grateful to both Val, Yourself, Miana (most specifically) and all of the others who have gone out of your ways to be helpful to those of us coming from out of State - Country - Continent (should I throw in Galaxy ... LOL!)
Anyhow, as for the HICC meet-up - It may be difficult for everyone to meet at the same time (what w/ differing sched's / Lil' Ones Etc.)
For those specifically attending Carrie's Prgm. 9:00 is impossible as this is what time it starts
The General Manager has stated that they will be amending their restaurant meal service hours/bar hours in anticipation of the C4 group (all we can ask really)
I guess If this meet spreads over some time then that is what will have to happen - seems to be cool w/ Hotel management
We'll just have to go from there - We'll be there after the Fisher gig!
If someone a little more locally could maybe contact Mr.Kelly and let him know that a group staying at the Hotel would very much like to use a section of space within the Emerald Grill (retaurant/bar also)beginning sometime after 9pm for a while past 10pm (regular closing time) It would be greatly appreciated

I can call tomorrow. But perhaps Skywalker_1982 can check when he arrives in person. Perhaps he will see this before he departs .

I leave in 1/2 hour but I see the message
I have internet access on my phone so will be checking on the forums but would you like a section of space within the emerald grill for just the saturday?? I suppose I will get asked as to how many people are in this group so do you have a rough estimate?
edit: Must say it was nice for the hotel themselves to sign up round here.

I will answer for them and say a space for 20 people should do just fine. That will alert them that this group requires more than just a couple of tables. I'm sure that as others will no doubt be in the room, they can join in and the whole place will be one big party.
It does sound like Saturday is the day that has been agreed upon for the "formal" get-together, but as the GM mentioned, they are aware that the bar and restaurant areas are going to receive a lot of heavy traffic next week.

I will jut go down around 9:30 then, and hope I can meet everyone. I also have an engagement over at the Fig, so I will go over there one night too. I hope noone is camera shy because I am gonna take lots of pics of you guys, I have a gigantic scrapbook to fill...lol.
