OK, here's info from GenCon about baggage check:
"As I understand it - the LACC will be running 2 (two) bag checks. I'm not sure where they are at - only that there are plans for 2 bag check locations. It's not finalized yet, but the pricing is looking like it will be $5 for a small bag per day and $10 for a large item - like a trunk or something of that size."

Isn't it appropriate to tip every time they get the bag in/out for you? How much should the tip be each time if you do get it in/out?

Well, this isn't bell staff. The bag check service is part of the Business Center, so this is a normal convention service. It's not like they're moving your luggage around .

Got this in my mail this morning (now don't shoot the piano player -- I'm just passing this along ):
Greetings Star Wars Celebration IV Attendees!
We as a company will be off to Celebration IV in LA beginning on Friday, May 18, 2007 to setup the show. Here is some additional information that will assist you with where to go and what to do upon arriving at the show.
Many of you have contacted us regarding issues with ship-to-me packets not arriving or arriving, but missing materials. We had some challenges verifying Fan Club membership status and then we had a fulfillment house issue. We have set up a simple system onsite to take care of any of the above issues in a timely and efficient manner. We realize that this is somewhat inconvenient and we appreciate your patience. Our number one goal is to get everyone that had an issue processed and into the show as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
If you received your ship-to-me packet and it was missing materials, please stop by the Customer Service booth onsite and a representative will be happy to assist you. There will be an entrance/queue outside the South Gate for Customer Service.
If you were contacted by a Customer Service representative prior to arriving at the convention, please follow the instructions you received from that representative.
Customer Service Hours
Tuesday, May 22nd 4pm–8pm
Wednesday, May 23rd 7am-8pm
Thursday, May 24th 7am-8pm
Friday, May 25th 7am-8pm
Saturday, May 26th 8am-8pm
Sunday, May 27th 8am-8pm
Monday, May 28th 8am-12pm
Celebration IV packets that were either not received or had problems with the packet:
Login to your account where you purchased items at VK edit: to fix the link they provided. Here's another one: C-IV Registration.
Click on View Your Star Wars Celebration IV Purchases (at the bottom of the page).
If the Date registered is AFTER 3/30/07 12:00 PM your packet will be waiting for you at Will Call. (Shipping deadline was 3/30/07 @ Noon PST)
If the Date Registered is BEFORE 3/30/07 12:00 PM and you requested your packet to be shipped to you, proceed to Customer Service onsite with Confirmation and/or ID and they will be able to assist you there.
If you haven’t received your Fan Club benefits, please go to the Fan Club booth onsite and they will assist you. There will be an entrance/queue outside the South Gate for the Fan Club Information Booth.
Please note that anything registered after 3/30/07 12:00 PM will be at Will Call. If you ordered your badge prior to the deadline and requested it be shipped and tickets after the deadline, your badge will be sent but tickets will be available at Will Call.

Yeah, this is great. Since I registered before March 30, I have to go the Customer Service line to get my Store tickets. Then I have to go stand in the Will Call line to get my Conversation with Carrie Fisher tickets. Wow, that's great service.
The people at Gen Con are really brilliant.

Here is the latest info from Adrian, when I asked here about not being able to bring in backpacks:
"I think they've revised that - they were going to have a bag check as people entered the door, but that started to complicate things so I think the final decision was that they would just hire additional security and then check bags and receipts as people leave the store - you know - like Costco?
There will also be a bag check on the 500 level and you'll get 5 hours free if you show your receipt from the store for that time. So you could check your backpack - go shop - come out, ship anything you want straight home at the USPS counter and then go pick up your backpack."

Yeah, I've never quite understood why Gen-Con handles the selling of the passes in the first place. The LOGICAL way to do it would be to sell them through Star Wars Shop. Have a part in Checkout where you enter your Fan Club ID # from the magazine label and viola! That part would be done. SWS forwards the list to Gen Con at the apropriate time and Gen-Con does not have to fool with matching stuff up or verifying fan club memberships.
I think Gen-Con does a decent job considering how bass-ackwards the whole process is set up. I do blame LFL, The fan club and Gen-Con for not having a more streamlined system setup by now for handling this whole process. Maybe this split up of the Fan Club and the Mag will help accomplish that. There is really no excuse.
