For those not in the habit of carrying a cell phone I suggest one of these. It may be cutting it fine to actually order one but they are available at places like Wallyworld or Target or the like for around 20$ - it's actually cheaper to load up your minutes on line too.

WOW...I forgot one important thing.
If you are traveling with kids under 3 make sure you bring a copy of their birth certificate. I called Delta today to check in my itenerary and they told me make sure I have it available. My daughter is 1 and she flies for free, so you will need to proove your childs age. WHEW...Glad I was not at the airport already...I would been upset!!!

Not sure if this was mentioned already - Be sure to give a family member or friendly neighbor a printed copy of the following things:
Hotel reservation confirmation & contact info
Flight itinerary
LACC contact info
Your cell phone number
That way they can attempt to get in touch with you in the event of an emergency.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned either.
For those of you who have a cell phone, it may be a good idea to program a few contacts such as:
*CIV buddies. (A MUST!)
*Anne Neumann (If you're volunteering for OPX).
*Gencon contacts.
*Hotel phone #.
*Car rental phone #.
*Airport #.
*Taxicab #.
*Bank & Credit Card (if you lose your debit or credit cards you need to call them to have it cancelled)
These numbers may be useful if you need to resolve situations right away. Also have these important #s on hard copy because you may lose your phone or have batteries run out when you need it the most.
Also, if Gencon's communication system at CIV is going to be just like C3 I recommend that you actually buy a walkie-talkie or prepaid cell phone just for this trip. See a few posts up. One thing I regret at C3 was not having a cell phone. I've had to rely on inaccurate information from fellow fans around me. Having a few KEY phone numbers will most likely lead you to better information.

Call your bank to inform them that you are going to use your debit card out of state/overseas so that they will not lock up your funds when you try to use it in Cali. This could become a big problem especially if you're coming from overseas.
Make sure that your daily ATM limits and daily Purchase limits are set to a decent level. You can actually call them to change it to a higher level. One of my debit cards daily Purchase limit was set to $500, so I had them change it to $1000. Another one of my debit cards was already set to $25,000. (I wish I had that much cash).
