I think that kids are permitted, it's just that they might get bored with all the adults mingling, the presentations, and the alcohol. I'm bringing an 11-year old, because I won't have anyone to watch her.

That is patently untrue. It was never stated that kids were not permitted. It was stated that children will pay the same cost as adults ($28 per person).
This is not a "family friendly" event. This is a cocktail party with adults, alcohol, and scattered tables. There will be a presentation that will probably run about 30-40 minutes and bore the socks off of most kids. There is no "entertainment" or anything to occupy a child.
If you wish to bring your children please be aware that they will be in the minority and their behavior should be condusive to the environment. I cannot be held responsible if they happen to overhear language or jokes that are of an adult nature. This is not an environment I would bring my children to and out of respect for that I am not bringing them with me.
As of 8:00pm PST we are at 149 guests.

So were all good now, Fan Force and Rebel Legion in the house? At the end of the day, money is money... these hotels don't care if it's FF or RL money.  I think it'll be a blast and can't wait to see everyone there!

Isn't it illegal for children to be around alcohol. I mean hear in Ohio weddings are the only acception, other than that if you bring your kids into a lounge you get arrested. I guess things are different in California...thought that was an all around law.
Hence, my comment for children not being permitted to attend, and I agree the language and adult content are another thing, but I was going off Ohio law, and it states no kids are permitted in adult, alcoholic environments. My bad...I apologize!!!

In California, children are allowed where food is served. In other words, if you go to a resturaunt and have to wait in the bar area before being seated then it's okay for the kids to be there because the resturaunt serves food. If it is strictly a bar for people over 21, then children are not allowed.
Since there will be food at this event (and it is listed as a Reception at the hotel), then children may accompany their parents.
Hope that clears it up. States have different laws regarding these things.

Hi - just got in from late night at work - and am bombarded with emails from my group who all want to attend the gathering....is there room for about 6 more?
adding this info: one friend changed her flight and booked an extra night in the hotel in order to attend.
