I didn't shoot any footage while I was at C3 (but did take over 450+ pics), and I regret not doing so all the time. But I won't be making that same fatal mistake at CIV. We bought a new mini-DV Canon digital camcorder and a bunch of mini-DV tapes for our trip. I fully expect to fill up every one of those tapes with some great video from CIV.

in public areas, its fine. but no filming allowed in any of the panels. so out in the lobby or exhibition area should be fine.

We as a group had one guy at C3 recording. He lost the footage....he claims. This time we are having like 10 camcorders in the group. We are still so pissed at him.

Did you ever finish the presentation you were doing after C3? I remember seeing a sneak peak and thought it was great. I kept checking back to see if you finished but never saw it. I'd love to see the finished project if possible.

no i never did finish that for several reasons:
A) complete lack of time due to still having school obligations.
B) the video I had was shaky in a lot of parts because I did not have a tripod.
C) didn't have enough content to make a worthwhile presentation.
This time, however....I've got full press access so hopefully I will be able to get footage from some of the actual panels and stuff to use, plus I can have a tripod, have unobstructed views etc....if you see us walking around the floor at the con, do stop by and if we aren't heading somewhere else, we'd love to interview you for what we're doing.

I'm bringing a monopod instead. For the short bursts of video I typically shoot, its steady enough and much lighter to carry around.

For those of you who might be using press passes and the like, Obey Wann passed along this information:
"If you going to the Carrie Fisher event, you will need to purchase a ticket separately. Also, please note that no press coverage is allowed during the event, and you cannot bring in any cameras or recording equipment."
I'm going to post this in a couple of places, for extra coverage.
