Ticket sales?

I was just wondering if anyone has heard how the tickets sales are doing? Compared to C3? Just seems like a lot of close hotels are still available, 3 weeks from the show. Like 5 out 6 of the closest hotels still have plenty of rooms. C3 had all 13 closest hotels sold out 2 months before the show.

do you have any idea how many rooms the hotels in IN had per Hotel? I tend to wonder if the Hotels in downtown LA arn't bigger in general and therefore able to hold more people per Hotel.. and also I have noticed that the prices are much higher at the LA hotels and many many more people are making their arrangements to stay in the Motels and smaller Hotels that are off the main path of the strip area that the LACC is on. If you check the smaller Hotels and Motels in the area there rooms are all completely booked with nothing left available and have been that way for some time.

but Indy is considered a huge convention city. At C3 hotel staff said they are booked solid years ahead.
I don't see how CIV can top C3 - that won't stop me from being there but there's no movie to promote, George has not indicated he's coming, the guest list isn't as loaded as we had hoped. There's no behind the scenes guys (I loved listening to John Knoll, etc.), there's no Nick G.
and dang it - there's no Star Wars in 30 Minutes. But here's hoping that there will be late additions.

I think the guest list is very good - better than it was for C3 IMO.
And John Knoll is scheduled to be at CIV.

With a celebration across the sea, there goes 25% lost. Hotels now offering though Celebration a 50% offer and membership 35% off. That can't be a good sign. And yes, I plan on being there. My group has a fan booth in the Fan club area. I just hope this will not flop and there will be more celebrations.

They're fine, no doubt.
There are 'only' 13 official hotels, but there are plenty of other places to stay around there (i.e. The Figueroa). Its not unreasonable to think that some hotels haven't rented out all of their rooms. It is common for these types of things to have discounts so close to the event in order to max out rooms, attendance, etc.

Seems to me like there's a real decline in the amount of activity on these boards in general compared to C3. Or is it just me?

When they announce some good information about what's actually going on we'll probably see more activity in here.

I was thinking the same thing. It seems like there is a core group of folks who have been posting here for the last year for CIV, but nothing compared to the activity leading up to CIII. And as others have pointed out, there is a Celebration in Europe and a forum for them this time. I would guess that is part of why the interest doesn't seem to be as big.

The hotels in the LA convention center are probably three times as big as those in Indy. The Westin, where I'm staying has over 75 floors...
But no movie generally means a decline in fandom, and that's to be expected. We're down on the forum numbers, and will be from now on. We'll get some folks back with the TV stuff, but it'll never be like it was leading up to ROTS.

Good question about attendance. Kind of ticks me off that they are running those specials on rooms now after I already made my reservations. Guess people backed out cause when I reserved in March 2 of my hotel choices were said not to have any rooms available.

{begin rant} I definitely think it is the pits that if you cancel you get penalized and yet now they are offering specials to people just now booking.. rather unfair all the way around.. same thing with cell phones and cable television.. if you are the age old customer that has been with the company for years you get no perks, but if you are a customer they are trying to get to come with the company they will give you all sorts of deals to get you on board, but if as an old customer you ask for the same deal it is not offered to you, only for NEW customers... who cares about the old... really ticks me off!!

I'm at a loss. I can't find the hotel specials. I did notice the reduced rate statement on Westin & Biltmore but they don't appear to be much of a reduction. In fact, the club level rate hasn't changed. What am I missing?
