C-IV is a celebtration of all things Star Wars. The Fans are a huge part of what makes Star Wars worth celebrating so it's only right that there are plenty or fan made activities in addition to the merchants, artists and LFL stuff.

Though your right, it's a little light on Star Wars at the moment but i'm sure once the full schedule is announced we'll see some good stuff in there.

But at CIII SW fan films got their own room. Not their own panels. I liked that. The SW movies are about the actors and behind the scenes people. Not some goofy fan film someone made to make a buck off of.

If you want to talk about ticket sales, fine. This is not a fan films thread.

Can I still get tickets from the box office at the entrance to Celebration IV?

Since this is the ticket sales thread, most of just see the huge amount of fan film panels as a major reason that sales are down. It is a fair subject from a certain point of view. Like was stated above, at CIII it was one room that you could wander by and watch some of them. At CIV, they are so starved for things to fill the entire convention center that they are giving the fan films their own panels. Hearing Joe Nerd talk about how he got laughed at and dropped his camera is not my idea of fun. Most people more then likely believe that they are not spending the obscene amount of money for CIV to hear Joe Geek talk about his home movie. For what I am spending for hotel, badges, and airfare I am let down by the heavy fan film presence. That means that is a huge amount of the event program that I can skip and not feel bad about it, but it makes me think I am getting less then my $$$'s worth.

Yoda Pimp has a good point. I don't see nearly the amount out stuff that C3 has to offer. Helping the decline of ticket sales along with other stuff listed. "Joe nerd and Joe geek" lol, got to love it.

If you'd look at the GenCon main page about C-IV, you will see that at this particular convention there was to be an emphasis on fan-generated activities. That was apparently to be a focal point. So complaining about fan-based activities is a waste of time.

What makes folks even think there are low ticket sales? I dont see any real information about such a thing. Just people thinking it but no actual news article or anything suggesting it.

3 weeks today! dancing

I believe the lack of online chatter about CIV leads to questions about attendance and ticket sales. It's difficult to say if that is really an indicator. CIV seems no more or less organized than CIII; some things are better but the disorganization has migrated to other places. We'll have to wait for the event to see how it settles out. And I don't recall the schedule for CIII being out this early either.

There were not nearly ENOUGH fan films at CIII IMHO. They only had two hours of them. This time they'll have them in a regular theater setting and I hope more than 2 hours to show.

You do realise that there is a rather larger amount of floor space available this time around at the LACC compared to Indy? Given that, they are able to provide all that they did for C3, and add in more that people actually were asking for after C3.
