I'm not that impressed with this list either. I think I might get the track jacket, the white C4 shirt, and a couple shot glasses. I know I'm going to be getting at least 2 figures, but other than that, the store is sorta lame.

Who needs a fur collared bomber jacket in May in California?!

Hmm, lets see. If I buy the bomber jacket now, take it home and wear it in October you think that could be the reason for getting it??? hmmm. Gee, I don't know, I will have to think about that one. wink

I can't believe they aren't doing an EPISODE IV leather bound book w/ sleeve. The leather bound books were probably the hottest seller at the previous celebrations. Ranging at $50 to $100 a pop. Add in the fact if you have Lucas signing it this time, since he was the author of A NEW HOPE. I'm sure they could keep the price jacked at $100 and still sell oooooodles of them.

Really weird... am I wrong? Wouldn't everyone want one of these? Maybe we can convince Del-Rey to have a mock-up put up at the celebration for pre-orders since it's way to late for them to put these in production now and have them ready for C-4.

Pipe dreams.. ... I know.. but I would have really of liked them to continue with this product line.

Val, would you be able to confirm with somebody that backpacks & duffle bags are in fact not permitted?
Thanks!

OK, as I posted on the GenCon info thread, I just get this from Adrian at GenCon:

"I think they've revised that - they were going to have a bag check as people entered the door, but that started to complicate things so I think the final decision was that they would just hire additional security and then check bags and receipts as people leave the store - you know - like Costco?

There will also be a bag check on the 500 level and you'll get 5 hours free if you show your receipt from the store for that time. So you could check your backpack - go shop - come out, ship anything you want straight home at the USPS counter and then go pick up your backpack."

What does "5 hours free on the 500 level" mean?

There is a charge for bag check. And the 500 level is where the West Hall meeting rooms are.

Right, but it makes more sense IMO to have it as a SW Shop exclusive and release it in the fall. Heck, they probably still will do that. After all, the C3 stuff was available online.

OMG! I've never been to a Celebration before, had no idea that leather-bound copies of the books were even available..never even considered the possibility of a copy of ANH in leather, signed by George Lucas! Hell, I'd pay a lot more than a 100.00 for that...I've been re-reading it the last few days...

Maybe I was wrong about being impressed with the items available for sale at the store..

Martha

is there a link to those boards any word on the price of the Dynamic Duo, the exclusive Droids?

There has not been an official CIV announcement on the price of the McQuarrie Droids set or the Hasbro McQuarrie Luke. I doubt we will see a price released before the con - I guess we're just going to have to wait till we actually get to the CIV store to find out.

Most people here (and on other boards) seem to agree that they will be in the $10-$20 price range. So just budget $20 per figure and then times that buy how many you plan on buying. If they are cheaper than $20 each, then you've got extra money available on-hand to spend elsewhere at the con.

Really besides the price, any information about the Luke would be nice. Since I guess they are not preordering them for pick up, I guess thousands of people will be lined up in the exhibit hall waiting to get him. I hope that they sell the figure in different locations thoughout the convention center to take the pressure of off the exhibit hall booth. Someone should have floated that past Hasbro in the last Q&A.

I did LOL. Only thing I heard back was that they were "aware of the issue," and will have a traffic plan in place.

My real only concern is at C3 the skyways were left unatended and people were able to get in to special shows a head of lines, Well if the store is open 24 hours what is to stop someone from enetering the convention early, and getting in a line and preventing someone who waitied outside in line for the convention to open?

Bad news for those parents who plan on bringing toddlers with them to the store (quoted from the first page of the PDF):

"Please, no strollers, backpacks or other large bags allowed in store."

And what do they mean no backpacks allowed? How do we carry all our stuff - last time I checked, we only have two arms each... tired

I can't even imagine WHY they would put this into effect. Are they really trying to use up EVERY single inch of space to cram as many people in there as they can that they actually prohibit bookbags and such? Wow. Just...... wow.

Im pretty sure they are just trying to prevent people from leaving the store with un-paid for or "extra" items in their bags...thats why they might let people in with bags etc, but have someone at the door checking receipts before you leave. On top of all that they will be punching your pass to limit the number of exclusive items.

I don't see how people can leave without paying for stuff. If its like it was at C3, they have people that get you what you want from a big pile of stuff they have behind the counter. Unless its diferent this time around. We shall see.
