Hey, I thought the cake was okay. Maybe you should have just scammed two pieces like I did. Or maybe it was because I'd been too busy to eat anything more than a packet of M&Ms, and was so hungry I'd eat anything.

I was actually in the opening ceremonies, so I can say that things did not go as planned. The suspicious package threw everything off and the band was 30 minutes late. The backstage area was pretty confused, and the ceremonies were almost evacuated. Considering the circumstances, I think things went pretty well. Other than a few over dramatic "the sky is falling" types who frequent these boards, everyone I have talked to has been pleased with the ceremonies (under the circumstances) and the con in general. I think some people just want to have something to complain about.

Carmenite,
I meant being satirical in the sense that you stated there would be "a fourth one"(meaning movie, I presume).....They already made a fourth one...it was called The Phantom Menace
But don't mind me. I'm more machine now than man, twisted and evil.

I feel as though I'm in the minority. I thought the opening ceremonies were OK, as was the rest of the Celebration. (I had to leave early; I have another commitment tomorrow.)

I think the single most memorable experience I'll take away from CIV was (literally) bumping into Anthony Daniels while waiting in line on opening day. An extremely brief encounter, but for him to have gone out to meet and greet fans was pretty nice of him. Heard Ray Park did the same, but I never saw him.

I didn't see Ray Park, but Anthony Daniels worked the crowd on line (and did it extremely well) on Thursday and Friday. Didn't see him on Saturday, though, but I might've missed him.

DarthRusty posted: Please keep these words of encouragement for those of us who opted out of this "Celebration". After going to Celebrations I-III, I was really down about missing this one. At first. Now sitting here with my place full of family and friends with our own Celebration going on watching the films and mountains of "fan" DVD's with vintage specials and docs, I realize that my staying home from this one was for the best. I was pretty sure that this one was going to be one last cash in for the Star Wars brand before LFL switched its focus over to Indiana Jones. While I am glad for myself and friends that I was right, I do feel really bad for those of you at this thing that are being treated so poorly.
Star Wars IS forever. But to me, the only way to keep it pure and untainted is to seperate LFL's cash machine from the magic that the original films represented to us all in the first place.
Hope things improve over the weekend for you guys.
I've been to all four, and C3 was the high water mark with C2 a very close second. C4 has been a big disappointment for me and my family for reasons I've stated on another thread.

This was suppose to be the biggest one! The 30th anniversary of Star Wars, and George Lucas and Rick McCallum decide not to show up
One thing I'm wondering is why Mark Hamill wasn't there, the man's career is in the toilet, he's doing voice over auditions for the role of the Joker on saturday cartoons, if anything you'd think he would have shown up for a quick buck.

Lucas was doing the new Indiana Jones film. It was a matter of conflicting schedules.
I had great time and this was an added bonus:

Nah, ROTS was the biggest one. It was the last movie after all.

See, I just always think that there are still 3 more films to come.
It's always been Lucas' plan to have 9 films (whether he'll admit to it now or not). After work on Indy is done, I think they'll begin work on the next 3 SW films.
Can hardly wait until Celebration V...ESB is my favorite SW film!

I wasn't at Celebration IV but I watched a video of the Opening Ceremonies and I don't think they were that bad. The only thing is why did Mayor Villagarosa and the other non-Star Wars/Lucasfilm speakers have to be there?
