Responding to Armchair_Admiral's post, C5 likely will be tied into the start of the Live Action TV series. One of the things noticeably missing at C4 were the Rick McCallum Spectaculars, but as you stated there was no new footage to show to fans. That will be different at the next one. There will be a lot to talk about with the TV series and nobody does it better than Rick McCallum.

yes it will be tied up with the tv series whatever happens i will be there!!-LA was fine for me apart from the huge flight from the UK,next time i will come out a few days before so that i can do some sightseeing and take part in any pre celebration events

This has been covered before I think, but, one thing I did like about LA, is the non-stop flight.
I flew in from Austin, TX for CIV and didn't have a stop in Dallas or Phoenix. Cost wasn't bad, either, around 350.00, I think. I was very pleased.
I'm trying to put together a trip to a "Big Lebowski" festival in Louisville,KY in July and am looking at 5-6 hours flights costing 365.00 or more roundtrip...with stops/layovers in Dallas.
One good thing about a large city like Chicago, LA, NY is the non-stop inexpensive flights from almost everywhere.

With indy building a new stadium, wouldn't that free up more space for the convention to "spread out" a bit? The RCA dome is attached to the convention center, so couldn't it be utilized as well?

Renting that stadium for anything would be prohibitively expensive, IMO. It would mean extra security, probably concessions, etcetera, all which add to the cost.

These sort of threads can go on forever.
I have been reading these sort of threads now for a few days and its all very well people saying it should go back to indy or stay in LA but seriously from my point of view flying over from the uk and many other other countries besides all over the US we like to make these trips abit of a vacation as we are not going to attend a convention for 5 days and simply come back home, the point I am trying to get at is I booked two weeks holiday at work for C3 beings it was my first trip to the US and what a mistake that was, there is nothing in Indy at all to do which I found shocking for a city, it actually got to the point where I considered in catching a early flight back.
Even if its a 10 1/2 hour flight from london to LA I simply do not care cause afterall I came away from LA with a feeling that theres more places I need to discover there.

I had read that the RCA dome is being demolished once the new stadium is built and the Con Center is being massively expanded and upgraded. The new stadium will be done in 2008 and the con center in 2010. http://www.indy.org/page/article/9506046.html
Once this is done I DEFINITLELY want to return to Indy, because to me a Con Center as nice as LA's in a Downtown area like Indy's would be the best of both worlds! Although, I'd love to go to Minneapolis for a Celebration at some point too, Indy in 2011 might be very SWEET!!

They couldnt have it in Indy in May 2011 because that is the centenary of the Indianapolis 500 Every bit of hotel space will be filled,thats probably why they didnt choose Indy for C4,because of the Indy 500,but being the petrolhead i am it would be amazing to combine the two in one weekend!!!

Although I've never been to Indy, so take my opinion as you'd like; I just want to say that I don't think it would be the best idea to have the celebration at the same time as the Indy 500.
Doesn't the Indy 500 take place all month? If so, won't they take over all the good hotels in that area, leaving us with dirt cheap hotels with probably cheap service as well? As you said, it's probably why they choose not to have C4 in LA because of the Indy 500. I'd bet my bottom dollar again that they would probably do the same thing, whether that con construction in Indy is done or not.
Indy is already taken over by racing fans during that month, so I don't think it'd be the best idea to have the celebration combined with the 500; regardless of its location in the country.

The Indy 500 big events only take place the week of the race. There is a whole month of events going on but those are at the Track and most people campout at the Speedway for those things anyway. They avoid downtown except for the week of the race generally. Early May or Early June would be ideal times to have Celebrations in Indy.
And to all the naysayers of there is nothing to do in Indy. Just get on the busline and head up to Broad Ripple. Which is about 10 minutes from downtown if that. It's amazing and there are talks of building up around the Canal, which would be awesome. They're working on bringing more of a Nightlife to downtown. But it all rests in the hands of the expansion of the Convention Center at the moment.
