First of all, I hope everyone had a great time at C4 because it's one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had!

I'm glad to hear people enjoyed the two 'Carrie hours.' Unfortunately I got to see her neither time. I skipped her free hour because I figured since I paid to see her Saturday night I could sacrifice the former in favor of some LA sightseeing. There's no way I could come all the way from the extreme east coast to the extreme west coast for the first time ever and only do the Celebration. I wish LA had been old hat to me because even though I had a four-day pass, plus the fan member Thursday, plus a little of the SW movie marathon Wednesday evening - there were many things to see and do at the con that I missed. sad

I spent all of Saturday there but chunks of time were spent waiting for Jake's and Carrie's autographs! Carrie was very tired by the time I got to her around 6:30pm and there was no eye contact at all but I kinda understand. I thanked her for being there and moved on. I don't know how all those folks could sign and take pix and shake hands with fans all day long so I was just appreciative to see them up close.

I needed a break from all the excitement and crowds so I returned to my hotel for dinner (dining at the Figueroa Hotel is whole other story plain )and talked briefly to my best friend back in Philly. I wasn't totally rested but there was no way I could miss an audience with 'Princess Leia' so I stroll back down the street and arrive at 8:45. There is a mega-line but I figured there'd be a seat for me since I paid and now all I had to do was pick up my ticket at the Will Call center. At 8:45. And that would have been fine, just fine -

- if Will Call didn't close at 8:00! shock doh! I can't explain to you how I made such a blunder, why I assumed it would be open until the actual time of the event. confused I still can't believe it. But altogether C4 was so fantastic that I just let it go and chalked it up to one of life's little disappointments and one of my little mistakes. At least I can hear tidbits about it from my fellow Celebrants. happy

I loved the Carrie Fisher talk. I went to both her open session and the "Conversation" one. She seems to be a great person in real life. She had ultimate patience with the fans and their questions, and also with the autograph line. She paid attention to everyone and was very polite. I'm so glad she was there.

I thought it was great and well worth the $15. I was in line for about 15 minutes and still had awesome seats. I didn't really understand why people starting lining up so early. I guess they couldn't find any other lines to wait in and need some sort of line waiting fix.

I was the 2nd person in line (3rd once the fellow who #1 had been holding the line for showed up), and sat my butt down there at about 3:30. Yes, almost 6 hours waiting.

However, to me, it was nothing. We got just about the best seats in the house (after the VIP area was filled, including with media who didn't even have tickets!!! angry and got there 15 minutes before it started, but that's a different story). Carrie was the reason I made this trip -- CIII was a wonderful experience that I had thought I'd like to repeat, but LA was too far, too expensive... that is until I discovered she would be there. Carrie's been a huge inspiration to me in ways that have absolutely nothing to do with Star Wars, and she's the only celebrity whom I would care to meet. My attendance at CIV was a big surprise, orchestrated by my family as something of a birthday/graduation gift so that I could have a shot at meeting her.

Aside from all that, the line experience was brilliant. I met some very wonderful people while I was in that line and found that some of us had much more in common than just Star Wars... always a great thing to discover at an event like this. In hindsight, I realize that though I was glad to see the lack of lines at this Celebration, in an ironic way, I also missed them. We missed out on a lot of the opportunities that those ridiculous Star Wars lines present to get to know and share in that "us vs time" comraderie.

I really want to add to that my own thanks to the people who were in line in front. I basically parked my 60-year-old mother there because she was A. Tired, and B. A big Carrie Fisher fan, but she is obviously not the Star Wars fan her son is- she and my Dad and sister just wanted to spend one of the days with me as a family. Anyway, Mom chatted with a least one very nice young woman from the Star Wars blogging group, as well as the gentleman on her other side. I think she was really impressed with the warmth and comraderie Star Wars fans show. And I, personally, was really gratified that nobody treated my "senior" parents as outsiders. Thanks for helping to make my parents' and sister's experience as much fun as mine was.
