I wish all cons like these would just cut out the Q and A part, and just have the actor talk for an hour. The actor is far more interesting than Joe Average that asks him a dumb question.

In the Family Guy presentation on Saturday Afternoon a guy asked Seth

"Q. Of the three voices you do on family guy; Peter, Quagmire (spelling) and Stewie. Which is your favourite?"

To which his reply was

"Brian"

Now THAT was great...I was there in the audience, and as soon as this person asked the question you could feel the unease and hear the groans. At that point I was ready to leave, until I heard Seth's response, hahaha...

During the Indiana Jones Classic panel someone asked Ben Burtt how they made the punching sounds in the trilogy. Every Indy fan should know the answer to that question! And no one asked if any of the panelists are going to be involved with Indy 4! confused

I was there when that idiot asked Carrie to read his script. Carrie didn't fail and came back with a very quick and to the point answer along the lines of "I'd love to, but there certain legalities that you'd need to go through first." which is true and is roughly how the industry works. Although I wish Carrie had added "get an agent first, THEN we'll talk." which is what anybody with a script should do before thinking about asking someone to read their work.

Yeah, Seth was a smart-ass throughout all the questions. That guy stumbled over the word "unceremoniously" for a few minutes and Seth raised his plastic cup of whiskey (I assume it was whiskey) and said "I'm surprised YOU'RE the one that's slurring."

Now, this wasn't exactly a question, at least from what I heard. But one of the guys in the session I was in came up and started sounding exactly like Quagmire.

After he was done, Seth did the voice, and I thought that was pretty funny.

You know, I don't remember if he did answer the question or not. We were all laughing too hard to notice.

The questions do get screened, but there's really nothing you can do to prevent someone lying and then asking their stupid question once they get up to the microphone. That's what happened with the guy who asked Anthony Daniels for a hug.

Yes, the screener and I, the next guy in line, (who knew her due to the fact that we were both volunteer staff at the con), both did a lot of muttering over that guy. I mean, he knew exactly what he was doing and was simply a manipulative liar. It really puts the celebs in a fix- I mean, what's Daniels going to do? Refuse and look like a d***? It also eats up a lot of time for the next questioners (I made a little joke, too, but I ran it past the screener first, at least, and said, "If we're running out of time I'll just make it the quick question.")

As for Tem, IIRC, his answer (after the laughter- I didn't realize the Fetts and Jay would be so damned funny together). was along the lines of, "That's really a question for George. But I'll tell you one thing- after that, I really stopped enjoying the movie."

Oh, man, nothing beats Trek cons -- there's always the "I just wanted to say that I love you guys and love Star Trek!" idiot. Duh. We KNOW you love Star Trek, we're all AT a STAR TREK CONVENTION, moron. Sigh. Must...strangle...fool...

Actually though I loathe Creation with a passion, I do give them respect for their blurb on all their convention websites, basically a paragraph giving the obvious statement above, along with "Don't be a jerk, ask dumb questions, give gifts on-stage, ask for autographs on-stage, try to deliver your script and/or make idiotic statements that waste time." Finally. All conventions should have that, including CV and onward.

Kids asking questions, that's one thing. Adults who should know better, that's something else.

We had multiple of these in every panel. It just got so annoying.

Stupid questions is what made the LotF panel so disappointing. Most of the questions were on things that anyone could have known was out of bounds, and wasted time. I know that Karen was disappointed that there weren't more questions on the wider areas that could have been asked, rather than variations on the "What happens next?" questions.

I was sort of amused by the Jag/Jaina couple even though there was really no question in what she said.

I also liked the person who asked what the authors' favorite ships were. Denning said he liked the StealthX. grin

LOL I heard that. Absolutely hilarious. Nothing is wrong with kids who ask bad questions, when it is a kid it is just funny.

Also, that kid that asked Carrie Fisher to read his script was bad bad bad. ADULTS SHOULD KNOW BETTER.

I waited about 20 minutes in line to ask a question for the "30 Year old veterans." And never got to because some dumb ass asked them if there was going to be episodes 7 8 and 9. Nothing pisses me off more than when I have a good question and I don't get to ask it because of a stupid question like that.

Best answer of the whole con, as far as I'm concerned.

Then someone pointed out that the question had been about relationships, so he said he liked the relationship between the StealthX and the mothership. Comedy gold. GOLD!

I was there for that one. What about the guy that ask a question that no one on the panel even understood what he was talking about. It was the guy that Seth ask he thought he was the only one drinking today.

All the "shiper" questions at the Legacy pannel. At least Denning made a joke about it and started to mention different types of Star Wars ships (XJ, SSD etc).

At the Wizards of the Coast RPG panel, one of the panelist (Rob Watkins ?) took it upon himself to get the dumb questions out of the way. Leland Chee was there, and throughout the hour Rob would pop these kind of questions to him...

Name & stats for Yoda's species
Why no more Wookiee jedi?
Why do bad guys like red lightsabers?

There were a few others too. Rob said he's been getting questions like this through e-mail for years. The audience would laugh, and Leland tried to give a legitimate answer, despite the jest of the question.

Why, yes, we'll tell you what we're going to write in our next four books. It's not like it would be...oh...SPOILING EVERYONE OR SOMETHING.

And I'm glad Troy answered that question like he did... How embarrassing.
