I'll agree with anyone who said it was a poorly planned location for the photo-shoot. The moment I saw the Jabba display at the Gentle Giant booth that first day I knew that it was going to be a relative disaster if they didn't move it somewhere else.
Heck, there was a lot of empty space in the Celebration Store, they should have done it there!

It's no different than trying to get a group photo of the 501st or the Rebel Legion.
WEll, with those shoots though, its the people that were in the picture, to an extent, complaining about how it went. I guess it would come down to if the Slave Leias felt they got the experience they'd wanted out of it or not, and I've not seen anything either way on that.

Once I heard that the Leia shoot was going to be in the Dealers room I knew it was going to be chaotic in terms of the crowd. Hehe. I’ve been the official photographer for the DragonCon shoots for the past 2 years now and I certainly know how crazy the crowds are, not to mention the annoying “crowd control people” who just wont shut up and give you a minute to take a picture.
My girlfriend is a Slave Leia and she’s told me she’s just watched the crowds and how half or 2/3rd of the people there to “take pictures” do nothing but stare, lol which makes the whole massive crowd a real problem regardless of where u are.
From what I can tell it was Gentle Giants choice to put the Jabba in the dealer room (since they had a dlr table?). I’m sure if it was Jamin’s (leiasmetalbikini.com) choice it would have been in a much more open area.
Oh well, I do hope some people managed to get some good pictures.

Thank god i went to the SSC panel-those guys were sooooo kewl and funny!!!!I did get a few leia pics about 1:45pm when they came in dribs and drabs-but then when chaos ensued-well-SSC panel was THE place to be-rather hear about future product then be mowed down by the fire marshal,lol.

Hey everyone!
Jamin here, webmaster for LeiasMetalBikini.com! I've read all the comments and I'm very sorry if anyone either didn't get a photo, got jabbed in the ribs, or both. Everyone, including myself and the Gentle Giant staff, was shocked at where Jabba was to be placed. You couldn't even take a photo of the statue without blocking traffic. Add some Slave Leias & forget it. But that was the area given by the convention staff, so our hands were pretty much tied. So the question was... do we shoot the group photo somewhere else, or do we wing it and take advantage of this beautiful statue. We went with the latter. ;-)
There is a full length photo of the whole group at www.leiasmetalbikini.com. More photos are on the way.
Right now I'm working on the group photo for the San Diego Comic Con, so wish me luck! I've already emailed the convention staff about my concerns, so hopefully things will go smoother.

Here's a vid of the ladies emerging from the GG booth. I was situated behind Jabba and caught them just as they came out the door. A couple of them were too tall and had their heads cut off, so I apologize if I decapitated you in my vid. I couldn't zoom out any further, nor could I move back at all.

My wife and I desperately wanted to take a pic with all the Slave Leias. But the huge crowds and bad location placement of the Jabba statue prevented us from doing so.
After seeing how much empty floor space there was in the Fan Fair Hall, it really made me scratch my head why the Jabba statue wasn't set up in there.
