Its probably for the best that I couldn't get closer. You know that fat guy with the camera that creeps all the Leias out? Yup, that's me. I'm so ashamed, but what can I do?

Maybe I should have not bothered with the rat race and just took pictures of the crowd itself. At least I would have come back with something from the actual Slave Leia shoot, heh heh.

True, but taking pics of them in person is a whole different ball game than seeing pics of them on their website.

Yes, I agree there is obviously a difference. I knew (especially at C4) w/ the state of how 'The dreaded lines' would be that the area in front of Gentle Giant (around Jabba) was going to be Chaos city for all of the time leading up to the 'Slave Leia' pic (figured I'd save myself a big headache and just get the pic online after all was said & done)
The same rings true (obviously different subject matter) for the 501st Group pic
Going into C4 I knew they would be doing something - somewhere - and there would be a fair amount of Chaos surrounding. (For 2 days I had been asking different troops about it with no answers, just alot of uncertainty)
On my way back to the Holiday Inn City center for a small break before Carrie's 'Conversation with' on Saturday night I unsuspectedly happened upon a small gathering of 501 members Etc. (On the main floor, to the left at the bottom of the main elevators leading outside of the South Hall)
So I just walked over to an area where ppl w/ cameras were gathering around an area looking down into a pit type area one floor below and Voila! The 501st group pic was assembling - What luck!
I simply hung around for about 45 min. and took a bunch of pics that would suffice
By the time I was leaving it was crazy, there wasn't enough room to breathe
GenCon/The 501st staff had blocked off the entire area around (there seemed to be alot of upset (& arguing), ppl trying to get into the area to take pix but nobody was budging) It was 4 and 5 ppl deep all around the edge of this photo-pic area
Ahhh .... The Lines!!! - The ppl!!! - The Lines!!! - The ppl!!!
One more area for improvement (for the next Celebration) - Photo-Op Area Management
Leave enough room around any area that will be used for these planned Photo-Op's

I third that motion, it was quite a fun experience to see the Slave Leias and other SW costumes that I've only been able to see on the internet before C4. It really is a good feeling that I can contribute to someone else's fix for pix. :-P
