While that was pretty clearly a joke, when we were at the Clone Wars panel, the lady did let slip (and immediately backpedalled and looked kind of stressed/embarassed) that Lucasfilm Animation is currently working on two projects: the Clone Wars animated series, and a feature-length film.
I'm not totally up to date on Lucasfilm news, so if there has been any official word/strong rumors, forgive me for repeating it. But when she said that, my interest was piqued: it would make sense for the first feature-length production made by LA to be a Star Wars one, since they seem to use Star Wars to showcase all their new technologies. I was trying to think what else it was they could be animating... maybe an Indiana Jones for kids or something... it just doesn't feel likely to me that the first one would be a liscenced production for an out-of-house company....

It's been a rumor for a while now that there will be more movies. They wont be 7,8 & 9. It's rumored they will be completely seperate from the saga most likely set in the KOTOR era and not directed by Lucas.
There was supposed to be some sort of announcement at CIV but it never happened.

NO, I am sure its a real shirt. Just like the one I wear that says "Porn Star" on it!
The back peddling comment, if it was what I am thinking of at the same panel I was at, the second on on sunday, was in reference to the live action television show. They were talking about the subject matter of the two and how they were seperate stories and at different times in the time line.I think she was worried she mentioned somethign about a certain general character and his background being the subject for a numebr of episodes.

I wouldn't be surprised if a SW CG movie is released in the future. Heck, the prequels were almost totally CG movies.

I would like to offer the following for perspective on the question of future movies: on Saturday afternoon at C4, there was a seminar entitled, "Anniversary Veterans: 30 Years of Star Wars" with Robert Watts, Richard Edlund, Ken Ralston, Ben Burtt and Norman Reynolds. I was fortunate to be first in line for the Q & A and asked if these veterans thought there would be a sequel trilogy. Robert Watts said making Star Wars movies was the closest thing to "legally printing money, so of course there will be more movies". Then to a person, the other four agreed that most likely George Lucas would ultimately relent and do a sequel triology in addition to the planned TV shows. Now I know this cannot be treated as "official", but these five guys know George Lucas better than any of us do and they are saying there will be another trilogy. And it should be noted that Ben Burtt still works for Lucasfilm. It also should be noted that George Lucas said for a number of years that he wouldn't do the prequels and he changed his mind about that!

I thought Lucas said he'd always do SW prequels. I remember hearing about SW prequels ever since ESB.

That's sort of my feeling too. Money talks, and I have a feeling Lucas will decide at some point he wants even more cash, so I wouldn't be surprised by anything coming along in the future at this point. Maybe he'll sell the rights to someone else and they'll continue the franchise. Who knows? I just wouldn't get excited over one misquoted news report, since we know we're not seeing anything other than the two TV series in the near future.

He did say he was planning them after Episode V, but after Episode VI, he was tired of Star Wars and said the trilogy was complete much like he is now saying the saga is complete. It wasn't until later in 90's when they were working on the Special Editions that he finally said he was planning to go back and do the prequels.

Haha, that kinda just changed my thinking. Maybe Star Wars will become the Disney World of moviemaking technology. You know, "Shoot, we just built that whole new technology [theme park] from the ground up and we're kinda in the red. Better start turning out some sequels FAST!"

I don't think so. George Lucas will only do more if he has a strong storyline that he's happy with and that would justify sequels in addition to the TV series they are working on. That's how he approached Indy IV and why that movie has had so many delays. The five Episode IV veterans on the panel at C4 are betting that he will move forward with sequels at some point, and they know him better than any of us do.
