Plus the guy is getting up in age. I bet it was hard for him even on the prequels. He should hand it over to Rick McCallum.

I personally hope there aren't any more Star Wars movies. As much as I love the series, the movies have ended because the story is over. As Lucas said, Star Wars seems to be about Luke in the OT, but it's really about Anakin's fall and redemption. I don't really like the direction the EU books took, but that's just me. If the books were totally disliked, they wouldn't be selling. If Lucas ever made a VII and VIII or even IX, unless he followed the books to some extent (which I doubt), there would always be people up in arms saying 'it's not supposed to be that way!' Of course, people said that about the prequels, too.
Besides, no one can play Luke Skywalker like Mark Hamill, Princess Leia like Carrie Fisher, Han Solo like Harrison Ford, etc.
I am looking forward to the TV shows, though, even if I have to buy them 'cause we don't have cable.

They'll be more movies. They wont have anything to do with the Skywalker Clan but I sure they'll do more movies.

I agree.
I believe there will be more movies and if they are more sequels than fantastic. I dont think Star Wars is dead...Lucas is still here...lol.

Rick McCallum will be producing the Live Action TV Show as he did Young Indy, and he will do a fantastic job. Who knows what will happen after the TV Show's expected 5-year run is over, but I'm guessing Rick McCallum would play a major role in any new movies.

I think Lucas is a control freak (which there's nothing wrong with it, he is the maker and he can do and be whatever he wants!!) but turning over HIS story to someone else would be difficult for him. I don't know exactly how he feels about the EU storylines, but I think Lucas looks to the basic core of Star Wars to be his and his alone...that core being the Skywalker family. While all basic Star Wars story lines needs to be approved by Lucas first in the EU, I don't think he'll ever allow someone else to create another movie with the Skywalker family at the center of the film. Books, comics, video games, etc. are one thing....a commercial film is a completely different issue.
With that said, I don't think Star Wars films are finished. Money does talk and Lucas probably will not be the director of such films. But what I see happening in the future are Spin off films. I would love to see a Trilogy of the Knights of the Old Republic. Or how about a film about our favorite characters maybe before a New Hope or Phantom Menace. I would love to see a film about Boba Fett or the travels of a young Han Solo and Chewy, or even a possible Trilogy of the Bounty Hunter wars. Or a spin off film about Maul. Can you imagine two and a half hours of Ray Park kicking arse??

Just to jump in here, I saw on G4 the same bit stating that Lucas is making 2 more movies, each 1 hour long, and each made for tv. Hope that helps.

I don't know how I'd feel about more movies, unless they were made for TV. If money does indeed talk and we get movies made strictly for theatre release, expect a poor effort on them in the long run; depending on who's directing...etc.
I don't really know what story you'd want to tell. I highly doubt anyone would follow anything from the EU (no offense) and I don't know how Lucas would handle the story. The Star Wars story was supposed to only be about Anakin Skywalker. I dont' know what direction you'd want to go in for a theatre release.
Again, I don't know how I'd feel about the subject.

True, the Skywalker Saga is HIS story and that's done with so turning it over to someone else wont be an issue. The only way there would be more of that is if he decides he wants to do it, though he's said before another trilogy would take 10 years for him to make and he's not interested in doing more.
I'm sure there will be no issues with him allowing LFL making EU movies that have nothing to do with the Skywalker Era at some point in the future.
I dont see any new movies coming until after the release of the 3D/Real D IMAX versions of Episodes I thru VI.

Even if Lucas himself doesn't want or ever make new movies, there's nothing to stop his kids from one day cracking that egg, ala Frank Herbert or Tolkien.
I won't be surprised if there are more movies, but I don't expect to see any for a long, long time.

I think the gap will be less than it was between the OT and the PT - about ten to twelve years.

If there are more SW movies I'll be right there in line with my ten to fifteen bucks! But the original Luke/Anakin story is complete. I doubt that any new theatrical releases would feature the main characters we know or the generation after them. Perhaps the films would take place during the distant past of the Old Republic, featuring the beginning of the Jedi or the Jedi / Sith conflict. I'd love to see a lady version of Darth Maul and a padawan Yoda myself.
